    yay OR nay
HELLO MFers HEY HI HOW YOU DOING, ITS GRIMMY MOTHAFUCKA CAME TO TAKE A s--- AND URINE!

    TODAYS PROMPT IS:

    SWAGGA LIKE US > FOREVER

Released about a year apart - these are two of the biggest posse cuts ever. Swagga Like Us was originally met with mixed reception but has aged incredibly well. Forever has always been met with great reception. Both tracks feature Lil Wayne & Kanye at their peak commercial heights. TI and Jay-Z from Swagga Like Us get swapped out for Drake and Eminem on Forever.

What do we think. Yay from me dogs.

There are a number of 11/10 songs that have been recorded in hip-hop's hallowed history

This is one of them, so yay

Yay. Compton was really good. It wasn't trying to be The Chronic, 2001 or Detox. I enjoyed it

Yay. It's the perfect closer to his career and a worthy end of a trilogy. tbh it's kind of astonishing that we got an album that good from AARP-cover-50-year-old-billionaire Dr. Dre.

Disagree. If this was Detox it would have 15 year old Eminem and 50 cent verses all over it lol. Even if some of the beats were created in the Detox sessions and then revived and worked on again later, it sounds modern and most of the vocals were clearly recent.

Ok I was gonna say nay but f--- y’all, yay

Most of these points are solid, as @M.I.C. and @Winter correctly pointed out the foundations were laid far beforehand. But, while I’m not explicitly arguing for Fetty being innovative, I would argue that these attributes alone don’t make it a “nay”. I need to preface this by saying I don’t think this a 1:1 analogy, but I’d argue you could use similar talking points against someone like thug when he was at the point of his career Fetty was in.

Granted it’s different cuz Fetty just dropped and dipped but I just personally feel that he pushed his sound as significantly as Thug did on, say 1017 thug and the ICFNs, which i would argue were created in the same general point career-wise for them individually.

Maybe that’s being a bit obtuse but I think that’s a fair point for why he isn’t explicitly nay just from that, personally I wouldn’t have said he was so significantly ahead of the curve as to be considered “ahead of his time” either, but I wouldn’t say it’s as much of a stretch as these posts would make it seem.

I'm gonna say Nay because collectively Nicki's past 15 years have been pretty varied and versatile but I agree that Invasion of Privacy > any full nicki project. Beam Me Up Scotty and Pink Friday are good though.

this is why I laugh at every single “reel hip hop” person, they copy and paste this “hurr durr simplicity is inherently indicative of lower quality” mindset and apply it to anyone that doesn’t have x number of internal rhyme schemes

like imagine being that pedantic over other genres. “Yeah stairway to heaven is cool but how many NOTES PER SECOND is homeboy hitting on the strings? Turn on some dragon force that’s REEL CLASSIC ROCK”

no limit top dogg is his second-best album; the first no limit one isn’t great. i wouldn’t be mad at this, though with snoop the whole point is that he’s this huge force of style and personality and has consistently made hits for 30 years

Compton was adope album. I got what I wanted. Dope beats, great flows, enjoyable top notch hip hop music. The main difference between previous Dre albums and Compton was the fact that first 2 ones had g funk which was Dre's own invention. Compton had that sound which was there for years and was the most popular (trap). But Dre still made it remarkable.

Just relistened to this for the first time in ages, solid yay. Kinda sums up what Compton was for me; it aint no Chronic or 2001 but a solid, respectable closer to a legendary career.

Great album... But I'm gonna say nay. I feel like a classic album should have the power to influence, and I don’t see an impact that affected music in terms of sound. That’s just my opinion though, I could be wrong as well.
