Sep 25, 2020Forever was much more anthemic, Em at the end brought a whole different energy that elevated the song almost more than what Swagga felt.
Yet I'd still say Yay, since Swagga Like Us felt much more consistent with everyone's verses.

Yay! Every stage of Snoop's career was amusing, No Limit era as most have already mentioned was his most consistent. Every facet of his rapping was laser-focused and it showed he was adaptable to any production style, something he'd prove over and over again years later.
The only thing that might just be better....was when he made Sensual Seduction....DKC, Ordinary Joel, Alpha and 2 others like this. -

No Limit Top Dogg and Tha Last Meal are great, been awhile since I’ve listened to them though. I do love Snoop over Neptunes beats in the early 2000s but I think the No Limit albums are more consistent (Blue Carpet Treatment is good tho). I feel like it won't age as well as Chronic or 2001. Sounds modern now but once we're really out of this era it will sound kinda dated.
Some songs are really boring tbh. But well I love Snoop's verse, I love Darkside/Gone, and the whole project is cohesive and actually way better than the sum of its parts like yall already said. I guess it's a yay, mostly because this is probably truer to current Dre's place in this world / state of mind / creative vision than an hypothetical updated-2001Sav Stanfield, M Solo, RetiredAccount and 2 others like this. -

I ducking LOVE Compton. Not as much as I do revival, but it’s a fantastic album. Y’all act like it came and went, but nowadays what doesn’t? In the age of streaming, social media, ADHD kids, and short attention spans, no albums or songs have longevity like they used to. We are on to the next one so fast we barely get to enjoy it.
Compared to 99% of the s--- that comes out, this was a big breath of fresh air. -

to answer take care: I’m in a weird position I rly like it and def see its classic contention, but I just personally like his other projects more. Nwts, iyrt, more life, there’s a handful of slightly lower than classic tier projects I find far, far more enjoyable. I still see tc as being a completely fair proposition for being classic and I wouldn’t disagree myself I just have a weird thing where albums I agree may be less technically cohesive just strike my fancy more
as for Compton I won’t lie I haven’t rly revisited since release, and one of the biggest songs w Kendrick and Eminem I just straight up didnt bump literally cuz this forum burnt me out on it lmaoo (I still to this day haven’t listened to unmastered untitled purely for how discussion soured me on it lol). It introduced me to paak who ended up becoming every bit as relevant as people made him out to be then, which is cool. I feel like there was some other rapper on there who I haven’t heard from at all since then idk. I guess that’s the most damning thing about Compton. It’s forgettable to those of us who don’t have a vested interest in seeing dre’s legacy play out to its conclusion. This album was the musical equivalent of the last 20 mins of Disaster Artist, the peak happened and everyone knows it except the editor.
and don’t get me wrong I vividly remember growing up on 2001, it’s not that I’m some out of touch zoomer who can’t engage w the art, I’m just engaging w Compton the way I imagine a 12/13 year old might engage with Kanye’s recent work. It’s fine, sure, it’s got some cool tracks but like... eh?Fire Squad, Thy, DKC and 2 others like this. -

Definitely a yay from me
It was Drake's breakout moment (in light of The Weeknd controversy it would later generate), the broody image he'd define himself in was birthed in Take Care. Still has some of his strongest songs, there was still a hunger in his rhymes and you get the sensation he wanted to make a "classic" album with this. I think it's behind NWTS & IFYTITL, but those 3 have been his best contributions to the genre.Sav Stanfield, Guma, DKC and 2 others like this. -
