I’ll make sure to check these out!!! I’ve heard some White Stripes records before but i’ve never ventured into Jack’s solo work so this should be exciting

    103. Swans - Greed (1986) [March 26th, 2025][IMG]
I'm very mixed on this record. Less noisy than Filth and Cop, and Jarboe is a great addition to the band, but it really didn't do much for me, sadly.

    105. Pusha T - King Push: Darkest Before Dawn - The Prelude (2015) [March 27th, 2025]

It's been a few years since I listened to this record, so I was a bit worried that it would come off more as an EP this time around. Thankfully though, I still enjoyed it a lot. Definitely my least favorite of Push's solo records, but there are still some great tracks on here.
(Sidneote: I listened to a "King Push" (2018) comp right after, but it won't go on here since it's a comp :emoji_slight_frown:)

Similar to the connection between Filth and Cop, this is very similar to Greed. I do prefer this album a lot more though. Jarboe is queen!!!

    107. Danny Brown - uknowhatimsayin¿ (2019) [March 27th, 2025]

Been a few years since I checked this one out. It's fine. Not a bad album by any means, but not my favorite from Danny. Part of it has to do with the fact that my favorite Danny Brown albums either have f---ing insane production/overall mood (Atrocity Exhibition), are incredibly reflective and somber (Quaranta) or both (---). I remember not being that big a fan of Hybrid and Old either.

Now this is more like it. I remember when this album was announced (pretty sure it was literally called XXXX at some point), and I expected a full on sequel album to ---, with wild vocals, lyrics, etc. This album ended up not being what I expected. but I still greatly enjoy it. The somber themes to this record make it truly unique in Danny's discog. I never thought I'd be saying this, but as much as I like tracks like "Tantor" "Dark Sword Angel" and "Jenn's Terrific Vacation" (great wordplay on the title of that the last one btw), I ended up enjoying tracks like "Quaranta" "Down With It" and especially "Bass Jam" even more. I can't wait to see what Danny comes up with next (hoping for STH Vol. 2 :emoji_fingers_crossed::emoji_fingers_crossed:)

Such a strange record, but still a great one. Its especially striking to hear this after checking out Closing Time. My favorite Waits record is Bone Machine, but I have this as my second for sure.

    110. Tom Waits - Small Change (1976) [March 28th, 2025]

I thought I was going to absolutely love this record just off of the cover. And... I didn't. It isn't bad by any means, but it's lacking the cool atmosphere of Closing Time and the wackiness of Tom's later work, Maybe this'll be better on a revisit, but as it stands, its alright.

I saw this at a record store yesterday, so I figured I should check it out. Its pretty good. The production is a big step up from The Untouchable, and Brad is incredible as always. I'd still rank The Diary above it, but this is still a d--- good album.

    112. The Velvet Underground - Loaded (1970) [March 29th, 2025]

Clearly their most commercial and "safe" record, but still a good one. Doug Yule is overhated, like he's surprisingly a good vocalist. Lou is great as always. I highly doubt that I'll be checking out Squeeze, so I guess this is where the VU road ends for now (unless I check out the live records)

    113. Tangerine Dream - Rubycon (1975) [March 29th, 2025]

It's hard to believe this album is over 50 years old. Like a lot of ambient, it does feel like background music at certain points, but at least to me, that's a big strength. This record in particular reminded me a lot of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' score for the Social Network. This is record is absolutely ripe for sampling. I enjoyed this more than Phaedra, and about the same as Zeit, although these are two vastly different albums.

I remember checking out Tago Mago and Future Days a few years back, and I really couldn't get into them. I felt like there was something that I just wasn't "getting". I did this enjoy this record a lot thankfully, but I have to recognize that I still don't think I "get" Can. This record has a lot of energy, tons of earworms and is a very fun time. Hopefully I'm able to enjoy more Can records on future listens.

    115. A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP (2013) [March 29th, 2025]

Oh boy. Time for another Yeez Hot Take....

This is easily Rocky's weakest project for me. It's not bad, and it has some great songs on it, but it feels a bit emptier than the rest. To me, Live.Love.A$AP and ALLA are his best, but I'd even put TESTING over this one. The only track on here I'd say is actually BAD is the Skrillex track, because it literally sounds like a shitpost. It just feels less ambitious than ALLA, less experimental than TESTING, and not nearly as concise as the first LLA. Overall, it's still a decent listen, but definitely my least favorite Flacko record so far.

Pretty good record. More Trip-Hop than their later work, but still a good time. Doesn't get close to Demon Days or Plastic Beach though.

Been meaning to check this one out for a while. It's definitely a VERY strange record, but I greatly enjoyed it. Reminded me of Zappa at some points. I saw an interview with Ariel once (s/o to The Adam Friedland Show!!!) and he was such a weird guest. I guess the music really does represent him. Still this is a great f---ing time.

Similar to Small Change, this is a good record, but not my preferred style for Tom. I guess I just really like the outlandish things he comes up with later.

What’s the best record to start with Waits’ music ? I listened to some songs in the past but he never really clicked which is sad cause I like his aesthetic and would like to dig in more and maybe discover tracks I’ll enjoy more.

Waits is a pretty weird artist to get into because over time his music goes from pretty normal vocal jazz to batshit insane rock music. I'd say that one of the following would be a good starting point depending on what you're most interested in (although I'd lean a bit more towards Rain Dogs or Bone Machine):

    - Closing Time: The best example of his early work imo. Very blues inspired but a good time nonetheless.
    - Rain Dogs: Probably his most well known record. Has a lot of variety, and probably the best out of his 80's run.
    - Bone Machine: My personal favorite. Such a dark and abrasive record, but also very beautiful at certain points. Definitely the most guitar-heavy of the three

It's a decent record. Some great songs on here, but overall it feel blander than the rest of Travis' discography. "pick up the phone" is still amazing though!!!!

Wasn't a big fan of this album sadly, Willie D's absence wasn't that big of a deal for me, but Bushwick isn't on this much either. Big Mike is a decent addition and Scarface is great as always, but as a whole, this record did little for me.

Similar to what I said about Can, while I can enjoy a lot of jazz records, I feel like I don't really "get" them yet. This is definitely a great record, although I feel that I'm not appreciating it as much as others do. Gonna have to work on that

Just when you thought you were safe, comes another Eno record. Still a good one, although I can see why it isn't as highly regarded as Ambient 4 or Apollo.
