Oct 1, 2015 it doesnt work like that with an artist as experimental and left field as thug...like, even his best song wont be impressive to you until you get acquainted with his voice, his dialect, his slang...right? at least lyric wise. anyone with an ear can appreciate his flow, delivery, and melodies. but fine ill bite
Oct 1, 2015 uh ODB thrived off this style. bronson does right now. wayne was the best rapper alive at a point with a different variation of it. and how do they not make sense? What's dumb about talking about ur girl or ur wealth? Especially if the song is how money led him from the days of "blood on his tims" to the s--- he brags about now..? seriously, its ur own bias thats making you discredit everything out the gate.
Oct 1, 2015 I'll check these out on lunch. And I feel ya, thug is unique/left field. But I don't think that's a pass that makes him a better rapper than someone like the game. Artist? At this point in their careers sure, but rapper? I don't think so
Oct 1, 2015 first mistake is separating rap and artist. thats an archaic way of thinking. they're both rapers. they're both artists. and in this past year thug's made TRIPLE the amount of good music the game has in over a decade put together. and part of rap is flow and delivery. thug has more range than game's ever exhibited in his CAREER in that regard...and thug's 23. so let's not be so restrictive in our thought process
Oct 1, 2015 I can't explain it any more clearly. All of this is simple as f---, took little to no talent to write. Lil Wayne was 5000 times better at blending his style with rap, however he was at no point the best rapper alive. Maybe most popular but not the best. The s--- we critique other rappers on just goes out the window when it's thug tho right?
Oct 1, 2015 no, you just dont go "Uhhhh i dont like his content and the way he talks about it he's a bad rapper!!!" you didnt explain whats "incredibly dumb" about rapping about ur fiancee and ur wealth on a song whose hook is "first you get that money then you get that power"
Oct 1, 2015 But the two are entirely different. Better artist doesn't mean better rapper in my eyes. musical elements (let's say production) change your perspective on music. Thug could never outrap the game is I guess my point. Also "good music" is entirely an opinion
Oct 1, 2015 omg what is ODB doing here?? rapping about sex?? and that voice?? ew no structure at all!! bad rapper tbh or, you know, classic song by a legendary and innovative rapper
Oct 1, 2015 thug doesnt rap the SAME as game thats the only difference. their styles are different why do you care about imaginary sceanrios about them rapping @ each other on the street with the same style? smh if anything, the fact that thug can jump from styles like that ^ to ones like Good times w/ jamie xx makes him 100x more versatile artist than the game's ever been
Oct 1, 2015 how is it random. why is simple bad. who the f--- judges how much "skill" something takes? and the way he DELIVERED..u know RAPPED...that verse took A LOT of skill. the change up in flows throughout, like at the "roll it for me on ur back," part. and how can something be random as f--- and something u dont usually see, AND be unoriginal? What other rapper mixes flirting with his fiancee, talking about past murders, and his current jewelry all in one concise verse? you're extremely narrow minded in you're interpretation and analysis of rap. im good with this convo for now. hope you check out the tracks i linked.
Oct 1, 2015 I'm not saying he's not but I'm talking about rapping here. What thug excels at has more to do with music than lyrics which rap is based on. And they're in a beef here.. So yeah the whole going at each other isn't made up
Oct 1, 2015 Lol narsh if this was a discussion on Eminem or someone like hopsin you'd be dissing all of the things you're defending
Oct 1, 2015 did u listen to the beast mode track i linked...he's rapping more the way you want him to there...thats why i linked it. lol.
Oct 1, 2015 i honestly doubt you even heard that power verse you quoted more than once, if that. and if you did PLEASE tell me how thug doesn't deliver it well, if you can
Oct 1, 2015 He does? And I have heard it multiple times. So good delivery equals good rapper... Got it. No lyricism or even remotely thoughtful subject matter (most of the time, again haven't heard all of his stuff) means he's one of the best alive?? The true greats have the ability to drop meaningful, sonically pleasing, technically skilled tracks displaying complex lyricism. Thug has delivery.. That's about it
Oct 1, 2015 no, thug has 500+ songs at the age of 23 of which uve heard a few on the same topic and think you're on to something
Oct 1, 2015 ... Thanks for the irrelevant counter post. Doesn't take long to catch someone's skill level/style. 500 songs at 23 only proves that he puts 0 time or thought into the song making process. Thanks for handing yourself an L
Oct 1, 2015 jesus f---ing christ are you r-----ed? your post was about lack of variety in his content and my post was to let you know why you might have run into songs that touch on similar things im done with this/you lol, its not my fault if you want maintain the insight of a 12 year old
