Apr 16, 2015 How can you say with certainity that all the beats are the same, or not well done, or boring etc, with only 1 or 2 listens? In the past, Ive had albums that have incredible production not appeal to me at first cause it took multiple listens to distinguish the tracks. It's his most cohesive project to date. Again, this is something thats not always easy to pick up after 1 or 2 listens. Especially if you're coming form the POV of trying to like Thug for the first time. I think Thug has "depth lyrically" aside from flow man. Not all the time, but that's because why the f--- would he want to have something serious on a song like, say, Check. But then on OD he's shouting all the people that have passed away recently. Like, you have to stop looking at this s--- like its black and white. And yeah Thug's obviously done better than on other occasions but that doesnt make whats on this album any less impressive. Also, let's not pretend like you know Thug's discog nearly well enough to come from that POV lol. I was saying Tha Tour pt 1 was better received than Under Pressure. They both require skill, there is not indicator of what requires "more skill." What if you're naturally inclined at making somber "deep" s---..than that comes easy to you. And making bangers would then be more difficult for you/require more skill or effort. But aside for all that convoluted thinking, its as simple as Thug DOES make both types of music. You just cant pick up on it yet. Partly cause you don't understand his cadences and his slang, and partly cause you're writing off everything he's as "unimportant" or "meaningless" either on purpose or subconsciously. You need to approach ALL types of music with an open mind Young Padawon.
Apr 16, 2015 The thing is Thug requires EXACTLY what his detractors say he doesnt -- for the fans to really LISTEN. You need to be FULLY tuned into Thug to pick up what he's saying and follow his free flowing train of thought. There's no two ways around this. He has one of the most sprawlingly creative minds in hip hop. Give it a chance. and now i rest my case whew
Apr 16, 2015 @Narsh Alright, I read your comment and I can respect your thoughts but I can't agree with what you think overall tbh The only thing that I'm going to say is that I think you shouldn't compare the critical reception of a mixtape with the critical reception of an album. I'm going to wait to Barter 6 to hit Metacritic and see which one got the better Metascore. Off Topic but did you heard Love Story?

Apr 16, 2015 I was gonna listen to that and Tyler's new album but there hasn't been anytime. I was preoccupied with kanye's smuckers verse a day, then the unreleased thug tracks I got (they're sooo goood) and then this album itself leaked.
Apr 16, 2015 Love that you're feeling this man and yeah this is 100% the right POV when approaching any music. You gotta put things in context, but that doesnt mean you're excusing anything. Like, people can paint pictures in countless different ways. you can use a canvas and some actual paint, or draw it all by hand, or nowadays you can go digital...young thug will just come into the studio leanin of actavis dip his hand in all the buckets of paint and splatter random s--- for like 56 hours straight and then go back and tighten everything up n----s the king of finger painting and people need to respect that!! on blud
