Apr 16, 2015 i'm new to young thug. you can definitely hear how wayne is his biggest influence. he even sounds like wayne at certain points of this album. constantly hating is a good song to start off the album, but birdman is boring and rhymes the same word with the same word over and over again. i'm not a big fan of young thug's voice, but that isn't a big deal. a rappers voice is never a deal breaker for me. i haven't listened to entire thing yet, but its OK if you take it for what it is.
Apr 16, 2015 is this an album or a mixtape for ffs even pitchfork calls it both without acknowledging it here lol http://pitchfork.com/news/59163-young-thug-releases-barter-6/ it's his studio debut right?
Apr 17, 2015 he's not trying to be anything he's not. his style is similar to the artists he's associated with--like lil' wayne, birdman, etc. i get the feeling he isn't afraid of being labeled like a "same ol same ol cliche rapper"....which is probably how a lot of ppl see him. but he's able to disprove that because some of his lyrics are actually pretty good/clever.....like the no-way/norway on constantly hating. i enjoy some of the songs on here and think that certain one's are really good--especially constantly hating and numbers. i hope i clarified what i meant.
Apr 17, 2015 for sure although his writing is definitely clever at times, and always colorful, it's how technically he sound he is with his delivery/flow/melodies etc that makes him a great rapper/artist
Apr 17, 2015 I listened to it twice yesterday and I wasn't really feeling it, my really only main gripe was u could barely understand what he was saying, but gave it another spin in work this morning and it's kinda growing on me
