Yep I don't see the appeal, I like most of his beats but I'd much rather listen to them instrumental

Don't think I've heard anyone who can fluctuate across the vocal spectrum quite like thugger

And lol @ hopsin being better, I swear some of you are so stuck in traditional forms of rap no none ever wants to let rappers branch out, especially when they're mainstream flamboyant and successful

Copying marshalls slim shady era flow and then occasionally literally speaking plain spoken word no inflection or melody is the exact opposite of good rapping

I don't really want to have to listen to a hopsin song tbh. But young thug specializes mainly in wild and exaggerated singing. He's the vocal equivalent of those guitarists who go crazy on their solos. He forms good melodies and his delivery is amazing. The problem lies at the fact that he leans more towards melodies and whatnot, and that comes down to subjectivity. I personally don't think he's the second coming of rap that some fans will have you believe, but I think he's good at making incredibly catchy and diverse music that is fun listen to.

Regardless, his music is fun and engaging whereas hopsin is often the bane of progress in rap, his flows, lyrics, and entire mindset is rooted in an outdated mindset that should have died out a decade ago. He's a stick in the mud for the music industry that backpackers herald as some sort of Messiah. Young Thug is the unknown, the erratic and engaging, although equal parts abrasive progression of rap. Hopsin is everything rap should have left behind after the 21 century, especially considering he doesn't even do traditional hip hop any justice.

Obviously waiting until this song is released in whole before we judge it is the smartest thing to do, but going off the snippet I think it's terrible.

Barter 6 is my album of the year, easily. I couldn't imagine hearing this on that album, it would definitely bring it down a few notches.

ok but it was only a skit, parodying ‘modern rap’ as he perceives it. to me it sounds exactly like a typical young thug song, hence my earlier comment that anyone can do what he does.

I agree, but it’s not me you have to convince!

I just find young thug even more unlistenable. this melody and delivery you speak of are totally lost on me, because all I hear is a horrendous cacophony of gibberish. I’m open to the possibility that his music could be a sort of acquired taste rather than just a fleeting trend in hip hop, but I’m not sure there’s any real talent to be found here. and that’s not because I’m narrow-minded nostalgic who’s resistant to change. I think Yeezus could have been a masterpiece if it had more songs like Black Skinhead, Blood on the Leaves..
