Nov 13, 2015 I know, you aren't wrong I'm just a track list perfectionist and I get annoyed when track lists are more bloated than they need to be. My natural tendency is to spot the flaws and make it better Thug either doesn't really care about putting together a start-to-finish GREAT album, or, like you said, it'll come next year
Nov 13, 2015 well i disagree that b6, ss1, and ss2 aren't great start-to-finish. but something more to ur preference will definitely come out next year. b6 is so well sequenced imo...same with ss2. ss1 stutters at times but it doesnt really suffer from it. ss2 is more bloated compared to ss1, but its so well sequenced and just engineered in general it doesn't ever falter. even the outro's being "no no no," followed by thug rallying the crowd on "my baby" and finishing w his declaration "i just wanna be loved" is soo nice
Nov 13, 2015 I get what Swizz is saying though. You could probably pick out 12 songs from both SS's and make an incredible 10/10 album. I tend to err on the side of wanting to trim the fat as well. I feel that way about albums, but not mixtapes. For me, a mixtape doesn't need to be well sequenced or minimal, it's just a place to put the excess material. I don't think it's off base for a mixtape to be about excess.
Dec 1, 2015 Uh thug kinda just said slime season 3 in a week on periscope? Is this too good to be true (probably)
Dec 2, 2015 I like these tapes but I'm eager to hear something more cohesive and put together like B6. Even though I like both Slime Seasons more than B6.
Dec 2, 2015 Well critics seriously slept on b6 and marginalized how well put together it was so these tapes to get thug to a future leave high is what we have to deal with it But when the time comes im 99% sure thug is putting together a feature-less masterpiece of an album that will dwarf the likes of like, say, DS2.
Dec 2, 2015 That's actually a good point. Future's string of quality, rapid-fire releases propelled him into the spotlight (though I'd argue Monster-BM-56N all work better as albums than the Slime Seasons, though they are half the length) and it seems they're trying to do the same here. SS1/SS2 have lots of excellent songs, but the fat could have been trimmed on both (a lot of this probably has to do with putting out HQ versions of the leaked songs as well).
Dec 2, 2015 In the end, there's no need to try and mold the ss tapes into what we want when we're gonna get what we want anyways lol. Not to mention his fan base is so segmented that these tapes are necessary to bridge he gap. Not everyone is as far along in swagonomtry as his core stans lol They thought the world was barely ready for a track like pacifier, and well I guess they were right. It's a masterclass in rapping that basically tanked on arrival (for many reasons) Also ss2 defintely works as well as anyone of futures 3 tapes. Especially if we take into consideration how veristile this one project is. And i honesty doubt if most people have really sat w the highs on ss1 (freaky, calling your name, wanna be me, that's all) enough...they're surreal
