I just can't get into him. His music bores me. If you have any recommendations that'd be great.

dour candy was my introduction, and I think it's on of the best hip hop albums I've ever heard man

It does take a while to get into, but it's the kind of dense music that's so rewarding with closer listens
    Hahah d---, nice man

That verse isn't really that great but it's awesome to watch haha

I just enjoyed his voice and flow on this one, which has always been the major turn-off for me. I guess this is just easier listening, I really love the beat too. Any recommendations??

Young Thug isn't for me. I like Tom Waits... A lot of people don't like his music... I understand why and I don't have to convert them.

i don't think reviews are good or bad based on how close it is to my opinion because i'm not in the ninth grade.

furthermore, almost every major outlet reviewed barter 6 very positively. garvey's pitchfork review is the best of everyone's, probably including mine.

Take "Halftime", the most thrilling technical display here, on which Thug seamlessly snaps into a dozen different flows: casually extending the second syllable of "re-cy-cles" so that it threatens to throw the song off track entirely, pausing a beat, unleashing a quick guffaw, snapping back on beat. It's an almost-reckless balance-beam routine. He pauses only for an ingenious vocoder breakdown that melts his cries of "Havin’ the time of my muhfuckin’ liiiiiife" into semiotic ooze, suddenly giving the blood-red backdrop of the cover art an almost Lynchian cast, like the velveteen Black Lodge interior.

I like the song but this is the type of s--- y'all eat up really? Pitchfork just sensationalizes minute details to make any artist that fits agenda or that they really like seem like a greek god. But when they don't like the artist they make take petty shots and make it personal.

Y'all just overanalyzing but to each his own.

meaghan's giving an example that's emblematic of the argument she's making (which is good argumentation); the argument is that, you know, the rapping on a rap record is done in an inventive way. that's exactly what you're supposed to do in criticism. she's not saying the record is great because of a four-second snippet on the song--she's pointing to the four-second snippet to illustrate the larger point.

And I'm saying I'm not buying her sensationalism. A lot of young thug fans seem to be doing this in general, making a bigger deal out of something they ordinarily wouldn't do for another artist.

    Its all opinions though.
