i don't think he sucks, i thought a number of tracks on barter 6 were pretty good. but i just don't see what makes him stand-out from the bunch as far as being a music artist. that's what i'm missing.

by the way guys, there's nothing with being critical about something/having a view on whether you think it's good/quality or not. but some of you guys go waaaaaaay overboard. why invest all this energy in trying to prove why this guy/album is good when at the end of the day this is always going to be a matter that is obviously much more opinion based lolol

I've only seen the @JCinator posting valid criticisms/thoughts and trying to have a conversation. Most of the other dudes in this thread and in other threads respond with "" or "I haven't listened to a single song, he sucks" or "he looks like a f--". That's not being critical. Anyway, it's a forum, we're supposed to discuss these things lol.

This is something I've always thought, even as a big Thug fan. Like for instance people will go really deep into how emotive Thug can be, and its like I'll see people kissing his feet for that but no one mentions, say, Frank Ocean, doing the same thing. I think Thug is a really great hybrid of Lil Wayne and Future who gets too much hate, and in response most Thug fans accidentally overrate little things that are cool but aren't worth as much love as they get.

Frank Ocean hasn't done anything in the last 3 years
The thing is that when people dismiss, basically, everything that Young Thug releases for no reason other than what I said earlier, Thug's fans have to emphasise on the good stuff, which he executes better than most rappers rn, contrary to some posts about how thug is a generic Wayne wannabe. There may be some overreactions but the truth is that the guy is actually very good and more importantly, very interesting.

Because Franks a singer. He makes a different genre of music. Is that not a clear distinction between how to approach reviews for each artist?

And, beyond that, they do. I personally wept praise of Ocean for his singing on Bad Religion, Thinkin Bout You, etc.

because 99% its the case of people being dismissive of thug's intricacies, not overrating them.

the specific example that Kold apparently had a problem with, was a GREAT example. he stretched recycles for a half a second longer than he should've, filled up the negative space before the beat dropped, then flipped his flow completely on its head (pace, rhythm, everything).

Just giving my opinion on what I think about Thug being a hybrid of Wayne Lmfao. He's no where close to him.
