3. Love Me Forever
Young Thug is his own worst enemy. He is the sole reason his rapping is as experimental and otherworldly as it is, but he needs a Tumay in his circle to focus his creativity. Young Thug has adhd I swear -- and this is just based on his own words. He hops from topic to topic within a 16 bar verse, he keeps a studio near him where ever he goes so that he can translate new thoughts/words/phrases into songs at the drop of a hat, he forms alliances with random artists every single day. He has a tape with Post Malone. A Tape with Fetty Wap. A tape with the Migos. A tape with Metro.
Basically, he loves hard and fast. Even if it isn't always in his benefit. And that's probably what happened when Thug heard a chopped & screwed song one day and proceeded to have his 1 and only misstep in the past year or so: he asked Tumay to make Love Me sound like the song he heard...and fans have been pulling their hair out about it ever since.
At one point, I even heard he said to slow it down so we could hear/understand every word -- thats just how much he liked Love Me. Great intentions, I guess, but man how misguided was that s---. In the end, even with great collaborators around him, the final say still goes to Thug. And he can be his own worst enemy.
The original leaked version of Love Me is one of my favorite love songs ever. From the way he emotes to how quirky and lovable the writing itself is, this track is perfection. He wants to turn you to wifey, give you wife things, and bend knee. He cares about your destiny.
Its crazy that this is from the Rich g--- era -- I wonder how many other joints like this (Feel It, for example) we've yet to hear. Above all, I think Thug is at is best when in this groove.
The second verse is one of my favorite Thug verses to date. Every line is a quotable.
Shine it up then bounce it, climbing in it just like a mountain
My bankroll big like a bouncer, spitting game like a counselor
Big old cross like a pastor, pop that p---- like a Snapple
b---- I'm bleeding, where the napkins?
Bite the red like an apple
Screaming free my brothers, I still sleep with my mother
Last week I made a quarter, plus I still respect others
I can't believe it's not butter, that little b---- might be my supper
I get respect from her brother, crenshaw boolin, Nipsey Hussle
Still prepared for them arrest, YSL we goin wrestle
Chanel pouch on my left, f--- the cops we don't play
Benjamins, Grants talk back, I be like "who is that?"
They be like "where you at?", meet at the Valet at Sax
Screaming free my brothers, I still sleep with my mother/Last week I made a quarter, plus I still respect others...still gets me to this day.
Scratched out the alphabet cept B, b----...whoa. She standin' naked bookin bicken. whoa.

5. The Blanguage
In the running for one of the best remixes of all time. One of the best Young Thug songs to date. If 2 cups stuffed and Danny Glover introduced a reluctant Narsh to Young Thug, Blanguage convinced me he was the best rapper on the planet. The handful of songs that are ahead of it are simply because I've formed a more personal connection with them, for various reasons.
I'm a fan of Drake's The Language. It was my most played song off of NWTS (and one of the most played in my itunes in general I think lol). I love the nonchalance, I love his voice/delivery (despite the corniness of the actual hook). This remix makes it entirely irrelevant. Young Thug is approx. 5 billion times the rapper Drake is. He's the better vocalist as well, on top of having a more interesting writing style, a more engaging narrative, and just a better body of work. But just take these two tracks: Thug creates his own language, panders to no one, and redefines what it means to be a great rapper in this decade -- what exactly did Drake do again?
Thug channels ad libs from MJ, squeaks like prime Wayne but raps like all he listened to was Andre growing up. The devil caught his soul, riding his back like a camel, and Thug flails throughout the entire track trying to get rid of his presence. From his booth, he paints a picture of wealth and extravagance tinted by paranoia. He's on the outskirts, chasin' green smokin on orange kush, feelin like a cantaloupe. He pulls up to the Intercontinental and hops out of his recently dirtied Phantom, he teleports from his booth to a banana boat, time travels back to when he made his baby sitter drink his vanilla, and somehow ends up back to where he started -- banging blood, he could never flue it.
This is, without a doubt, one of the best rap songs of the decade.
Is it a parade?

8. Pelican Fly
Only One, Hold Us, Pelican Fly and Choke all came out right around new years 2015. I remember a single tear rolling down my cheek as I passed out listening to Only One on some random persons couch that night, then getting rid of the hangover the next morning with the other three tracks. Hold us is a collab w RHQ and Peewee Longway while Choke is w RHQ and Nipsey Hussle..and Thug is crazy good on both.
But the standout even back then was the one solo track out of the bunch -- Pelican f---ing Fly. The title, probably ripped from this Wayne song (which was probably ripped from this Scarface scene) is the name of my poorly kept blog. Over the past year, this phenomenal track has gone from an impressive but poorly mixed/kind of abrasive loosie to legit one of the best examples of what makes Young Thug work.
It's overwhelmingly euphoric. Forces you to feel what he feels. It might because I've written about 42 other songs already, but its really hard to verbalize why I love Pelican Fly so much. He shrieks "oh god" like he's climaxing, builds tepees on the runway, runs off on his plug, and sees birds every Sunday (no Falcons). All in time for Magic City on a Monday, ay.
This is my roommates favorite young thug song (he's gotten a crash course in his music since moving last September)
Dun Deal comes through, just like with Friend of Scotty, and proves why him and Thug are the OG goat duo.
Thug steals a line Wayne already delivered with infectious bravado, and takes it to unimaginable heights. He turns the phrase over and over again until youre drunk off words. He doesn't give a d--- what you say to him. He's got a hood, he's Trayvon good. But his cars got no hood, in case you misunderstood. He's in his zone and can't find his way home. They flooded Atlanta, and all he wants to do is dodge the drama and give his girl weird-a--- nicknames like Timber (cuz he loves the wood, get it?). He just wants to let her know she's pelican fly.
He takes off running...and has yet to cease his forward momentum. There's no finish line in sight.

might make another post/update this one as i go through the thread, but this is what i pulled from the first page:
on the other hand, thug's shown absolutely tremendous success/instincts (lifestyle, good times). i would also argue that the way he's become a lightning rod for criticism/debate helps keep him in relevant on a level that some rappers with better sales (logic, for example) will never hit. so he'll keep having opportunities.

7. I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times) ft. Young Thug & Popcaan
First feature on this list. One of the best songs of the year (top 5 for me). I like the original leaked version a lot better, but this is the official joint from Jamie XX's In Colour.
"I'ma ride in that p---- like a stroller
I'll survive in a mothafuckin' gutter
That's my mothafuckin' woadie, like the Noila
And I'm comin' red like Coke-Cola
I'ma have a very good time
I swear to God I can't never sideline lil shorty
She say she likes all of a n----- rhymes
Where is my phone? That p---- callin'
I want you to pass it to Thugger Thugger
Even in the summer time me and lil shawty cuddle
I swear to God I'ma tip you, you don't got to struggle
Baby girl sit it down, you not known like an usher
I told lil' mama I don't bite but my teeth do
I wanna control you like voodoo
I'm steady screaming free Unfunk and DuLu
Every time I have a good time you do too"
One of the best rappers alive. Beautiful...and clearly anyone whose anyone in the industry recognizes the unique talent at hand.

I honestly feel like it's not out of the realms of possibility that's a poster for one of his club appearances and someone's photoshopped "HiTunes" on the bottom.
Just from literally a one minute search on Thug's Twitter I can find the picture here:
And if I'm being honest more so than skeptical I think this is photoshopped. The "after party" text covers him but if you look at the poster it looks like it's been blacked out with "shadow".
@ThuggerSXN What do you think? Section tagging because I think we may as well nip it in the bud now rather than have more false hope for myth projects. We've had enough pain as Thug fans with stuff like this. Am I reaching or is this proof it's fake?
Surely they'd do another photo-s---t for a new album and not reuse one that's been used on club posters - plus isn't he pushing Barter 7 currently? That at least does have a new (or unused) photo for it.
