I was thinking about buying a console. Last one I had was an XBox 360 years ago. I was surprised to see how cheap the new gen consoles go for these days, but 80 bucks for a game? Wtf.

Since when have new releases been that price?

I've been using Steam for quite a few years and whether it was PC or consoles, new titles usually were $60. Then not that long ago, the price became $70. And now $80?

$80 for a game, and some of them don't even have an online mode. So once it's done, it's done. I rather hire a hooker for half an hour at that price.

I dunno about you but new titles have always been close to $100 here in Australia unless you price-matched with a store that was selling it for cheaper.

Even then it'd only go down to about $80. :jordan:

Yeah, it’s f---ing nuts. After taxes where I’m at it comes to $92 for a new release.

d--- that's crazy. But yea, it probably differs depending on your country.

You're lucky, that must be the US price i guess?

I rarely ever buy a game at it's full price. In recent memory the only game I did buy full price was GTA 5 when it came out on PC.

I agree we shouldn't encourage that. That and the Early Access bs. It has become the plague on Steam. It's crazy, i've seen Early Access games go for as much as $50-$60.

Like $60 for an unfinished game. The worst part is that most companies don't even bother finishing them once they made a big chunk of profit.

I've buyed an Early Acces once and told myself never again. It was Day Z. I think it's been out for 4-5 years now and last I heaed, it's still not finished. I remember reading a couple years ago that the company made a huge profit. They had by far surpassed their initial goal and the owner just left the company.

No worries brother, if you factor in inflation, the $60 dollar games that became the norm around 2005 actually cost closer to $75.20 in 2017 dollars.

I've never paid or seen a price tag higher than $60 on a new Xbox/PS4 game, unless you're talking about special editions

Yeah I stopped buying games on release day a few years ago. Got sick of the BS day 1 updates, and can pay half price or less just a few months later. Unless it's a new Rockstar, Naughty Dog, or Bethesda game, it can wait.

I got an Xbox one and it’s still $60 for new games last I saw which was around September.

I only really play sports games at this point but I’d definitely play those less if the price jumped to $80.

If you get a Xbox One & have a buddy that also has one, you two can game share & get games that are $60 for $30. That's what I do & pretty much get every new game that comes out for cheap. Only special edition versions of a game are beyond $60 though. #XboxGang
