I'm running my first half-marathon on the 31st, and I'm getting a bit nervous! Hurt my knee on a 10 mile run a few weeks ago so I've been training considerably less.

I was going for a 9:00/mile pace but now I'll probably settle for a 10:00.

A marathon is what like 26 miles? I don't even like driving 26 miles I can't even imagine jogging that much it boggles my mind that a human being can even run 26 miles without stopping.

    Good luck though

I am currently at 10 miles at about 8:25. Most I have done is 11 but I just started a 16 week marathon plan on Runkeeper.

My goal is to run the London Marathon before I am 40 which doesn't give me long left lol!

Nice! I'd like to do a disney one, but I don't think I'd want to dress up

Wow, 68 minutes, that's insane. But thanks!

Yeah that's right, and I don't think I'd ever do a full marathon either. 13.1 miles is enough for me

Awesome! The London marathon would be really cool, good luck. I'll have to check out Runkeeper. I've been using Nike+ for over 3 years now, it's pretty nice.

Also that's a good time for 10 miles :emoji_thumbsup: I think I was struggling at 9:40 something for my 10 mile run. I can do about 8:10 for a 5k though

I should note that I run 4 times per week though so I do train hard for that!

My dentist is in his 50's, he is training for the Ironman triathon race....

    - 4-mile swim
    - 112-mile bike
    - topped off by a 26.2-mile run

It runs from 7am to midnight, and obviously if you don't complete it in that time you don't earn the title of being an Ironman. Things always seem initially hard, not saying it's easy but you'd be surprised at what you can make your body do when you push yourself, I'd like to enter this race one day.

    Good luck btw Op.

Look up persistence hunting. It's thought humans used to chase their prey until they were exhausted and collapsed. It's the supposed reason why we can sweat. Some tribes still practice it in Africa. Now they wear Nikes while doing it.

How do you train for that? Just keep running more? Most I ever got up to was like 5 miles and it got so boring and killed my knees. I like sprinting

I've been using this training plan - it's basically just 4 runs a week, and 1 day of cross-training. You only really run more than 5 miles once per week.

I'd honestly prefer shorter races, like sprints or even 5k's, but I am challenging myself to finish a half marathon just so I can finally say I've done it. I know quite a few people who have done them multiple times, and a few who have done full marathons.
