Jul 11, 2016 Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers have only played 2 summer league games in Las Vegas, but already Ben Simmons has shown he is going to be a star. In the 2 games in the Las Vegas summer league, Ben Simmons has simply dominated. In the first game against the Los Angeles Lakers, he scored 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. His passing ability appeared to be incredible, always seemed to find an open man. Showed great court vision and was able to deliver the ball on a platter to his teammates, who did not cash in on all of his dimes. He was also able to make many crafty and mind-boggling passes whether it was driving and kicking it out or a pass to a cutter. Just look at this incredible pass to Timothe Luwawe-Carabot, not many 6'10" forwards can make that pass. In the 2nd summer league game against the Chicago Bulls, Simmons had another outstanding performance. Simmons had 18 points 7-13 from the field and 4-5 from the line, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Even though it does not appear as an all around good game from Simmons it was, had many passes to assists and had many great passes that helped other players get open looks. He also proved that he can and will grow as a jump shooter, the Bulls basically dared Simmons to s---t and he did just that (7-13FG). Including a 4th quarter surge in which he had 8 points on 4-6 shooting from the field the last 5 minutes. Including this dunk where he drove right past his defender with ease and finished with the slam. After the game Bulls guard, Denzel Valentine said: "He's like a mini-Lebron". Even though it is just the Las Vegas summer league, Ben Simmons is showing why he was the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft and why he is going to be a superstar. http://page2sports.com/56673/nba-summer-league-ben-simmons-going-superstar
Jul 11, 2016 First the summer league stats mean nothing because 75% of the players participating wont make an opening day roster. But yes he will probably be a star. He needs to develop range like at least SOMETHING..... He took I think 3? Attempts from beyond the arc last year AND THATS WITH THE COLLEGE 3 POINT LINE.... He has time though he'll be great. Idk who will be better him or Ingram but they'll both be special
Jul 12, 2016 Been a very grounded performance by Ben in the Summer League. Usually you get a lot of hacks trying to prove their worth, while he's got a bit of maturity about his game. Exciting stuff, I'm not sure if he will be an elite scorer but he's the type of player that could win you the game.
Jul 12, 2016 Ingram is going to be the elite scorer. Simmons is going to have a Rondo type stat line, 8-12 pts/12 assists/8 rebounds
Jul 12, 2016 lol Philly is eating this guy up. Gotta cling to something i guess when the Sixers have won a combined 20 games the last 3 years.
Jul 12, 2016 @Soldier pls link original source as author contacted us but never left what the url is lol
Jul 12, 2016 Great player yes, but there really has to be something said about the fact that he couldn't even take his college team to the tournament. How is he going to take the god d--- Sixers to the promise land? He can rebound like a MFer. His passing is probably lowkey the best part of his game. He can't really s---t, but he can knock em down, which tells me there really isn't anything wrong with his shot mechanically. Jaylen Brown outplayed him in the first game and I don't even think he hit a field goal. Won't be rookie of the year. Kris Dunn all the way Summer League should really be no indication of this guy's potential. If you want to talk about potential shown in the Summer League, then you best be talking about Thon Maker. 30 points 30 rebounds through two games. Fear the Deer.
Jul 12, 2016 I do not think this is very funny but here is the original link- http://www.12up.com/posts/3446412-ben-simmons-is-going-to-be-a-superstar and http://page2sports.com/56673/nba-summer-league-ben-simmons-going-superstar
Jul 13, 2016 Hey hey hey, it was like 47 games in three years lol. I'm really excited for the future of the sixers. Simmons is going to be a joy watching play and mature over the years. No one in philly is delusional enough to think they'll be a playoff team or even the year after. But after these young guys gel and mature they're games and embiid stays healthy we'll be a contender in a few years.
Jul 13, 2016 A contender? like for the NBA title or to make the playoffs??? I agree Sixers got some good young pieces but it's still a major stretch to assume they'll be contenders 'if Embiid stays healthy.' They still have a ton to prove. There's really only 2-3 teams a year that are legit contenders anyways.
Jul 13, 2016 A playoff team, sorry I should have stated that. I'm skeptical of embiid as well, but if he turns out to be great we'll be set for years.
Jul 13, 2016 lmao the author so salty Anyway, it's not an unpopular opinion that Ben Simmons is gonna be amazing. He's the greatest prospect since KD. What I think more people should be talking about is the fact that the Sixers will also have Dario Saric and Joel Embiid back this year. They have amazing young talent.
