Aug 21, 2023 Tough... because... Encore - half good/half bad. The silly s--- ruined the album. But, some great songs, decent production, concept and overall... not as bad as was made out, just... a messed up album. Recovery - production and writing are flawed. This is the first time Em looked human, as in, some of the corniest puns or lines ever written, so contrived and ridiculous... and yelling them like they're the most serious, profound words ever spit; but, some f---ing enjoyable songs, verses, rapping... top to bottom... it's pretty consistent. It's just loud and... flawed. Rough around the edges. Clumsy. MMLP2 - similar to Recovery. Very enjoyable songs and actually some of his best rapping ever. But just sacrilege to have s--- like 'The Monster' beat n hook on this album of all, a mmlp sequel... come on. It's all over the place, no committed sound and layed the groundwork for what he'd do next and his worst album mostly for that reason - Revival - trying to please every facet of his fanbase at once and making a f---ing mess. Kamikze - easily the most consistent aesthetic here. Production is great, rapping and style are great... the shock of it when it dropped... it has a vibe and it sticks to it; it's a near-classic to me. It just needed 1 or 2 more BIG tracks like concept tracks or the 'went too far' s--- he referred to that he took off. It just ends a little weak, but, it's a great album. So, all things considered - would have to say: KAMIKZ3.
Aug 21, 2023 I'll have to give it some thought but it's probably between Kami and MMLP2, although the more mature songs on Recovery really carry that album into also making me think about it as well.
Aug 22, 2023 1. Recovery 2. Encore (Deluxe) 3. Recovery (Deluxe) 4. Encore 5. MMLP2 (Deluxe) 6. MMLP2 7. Kamikaze
Aug 22, 2023 Easily Kamikaze. Feels a bit like an EP tho but still the most coherent sound among those albums and probably the best production with best he sounded (again just among the albums mentioned) I'm not even sure which one of the rest is better than others. Encore has amazing stuff but also his worst songs too. MMLP2 is all over the place with the sound, some songs like a------ rapped terribely and that production is the worst thing I've ever heard. But there are also many gems. Recovery is too poppy, more coherent sound but some filler songs that actually don't sound good at all. The thing about Kamikaze is the whole album sounds better even the weaker, filler tracks...
Aug 22, 2023 In order... Kamikaze Recovery MMLP2 Encore Kamikaze had that anger and energy that made him famous in the first place. Recovery, I liked the more mainstream sound. Maybe not all the pop features but he's a pop star and he honed onto that persona on this one. MMLP2, I keep thinking I may like this more if it had a different name. But ultimately the rock infused sound I couldn't stand. Encore. Yes, half of it was good. But the other half was so bad it made it overall awful. Coming off that 3 album streak and the stakes were high - he couldn't have fallen off more if he tried. I happily admit I was one of those people that genuinely thought he released a bad album as a trick to fool leakers and then release the "real" album on the actual release date.
Aug 22, 2023 1. Encore- the last true "old sounding" eminem album, production is great and i don't mind those few goofy songs 2. Kamikaze- solid album 3. Recovery and MMLP 2- dont care for either album so its a tie
Aug 22, 2023 Recovery is easily the album with the most replay value. I still feel his overall best work from the listed projects is MMLP2, from an artistic perspective. Encore has easily the highest highs. Kamikaze is neigher of the ones above, but its mixtape character is special. Very hard to vote
Aug 22, 2023 1. encore cuz it has some actual prime Eminem songs on it that I'd rather listen to than anything on the others. it's also kind of a fascinating album where u get to see Pill Head Marshall in his stupidest, most powerful form 2. kamikaze is more consistent/concise as an album than encore but doesn't reach the highs 3. MMLP2 was fun when it first dropped but not much to revisit here 4. recovery is like 90% unlistenable in 2023
Aug 22, 2023 He hasn't done anything close to "like toy soldiers" or "mokcingbird" since then, maybe "beautiful" but that's it
Aug 24, 2023 People let their opinions change on Em albums all the time and will start to dislike an album just because something new has come out since. Never has this resulted in more glaring disrespect than with Kamikaze. Kamikaze is almost a classic. The other three aren't even close.
