So I first heard about this service as an option for storing music in the cloud and having it anywhere you need it. As somebody who deletes their library semi-regularly, I wanted to have a back archive where I could access everything. Google Play Music lets you upload 50,000 songs for free. Once stored, you can redownload them at any time, edit ID3 tags online, make playlists, have Google make smart playlists for you, and all the usual features in a music player.

A monthly subscription yields you a Spotify like service, without the bloatware program or intensive in browser player. I have to say, I should have taken advantage of this sooner. As a fan of Google Drive, this is just as amazing. No, this isn't a paid advertisement. I'm just a documenting the latest stage of my Google fandom. As far as I'm concerned, this is how I'm listening to music from now on. Highly recommended.

you don't need a monthly subscription to be able to back everything to the cloud?

I've heard the iOS app is far and away better than the Android one.
I prefer to have a dedicated MP3 player so it's not a big deal to me.

Yeah, I have crap upload speed but I still have 1,500 songs up after just starting the service recently.
I just added the folder where my SoulSeek downloads go and now it's a one step process to download/reupload and keep forever.
Nothing beats this that I know.

    Nah, son. Free.99

I was just kind of apathetic towards switching. Ya know, "music is the important part, not how I play/store it".
A lot of people get caught up in the latter and dull the magic. This isn't that. This is heaven.

Nah, you can stream your own stuff for free. The Spotify service thing is optional.
I copped NWTS and Yeezus for free in their store, so that was nice.

I don't have to worry about backing up my music on Hard drives, when you can just download all your library back anywhere. It's soo good, I don't know why more people don't use it.

Oh that's even better :allears:, I remember it being 20 k before

dunno how i feel about ever uploading 90+ gigs of not so legally acquired music to a cloud drive owned and run by one of the biggest companies in the world, and then using all of my data every month on streaming just a fraction of it when I'm in a decent place with internet when I could just have it all with me on an iphone

I mean, you do you, but let me address some of these points.

    (1) Don't be paranoid. Music piracy is chump change.
    (2) You can save music offline using wi-fi.

It actually only uploads the music that Google music doesn't have in its database and puts it as your own, their library of music is huge.
