Travis (probably Mike Dean) did a good job sequencing this album and maintaining an aesthetic/vibe throughout. On paper, it's a much better listen front-to-back than Rodeo, which other than the stretch from Oh My Dis Side to Night Call is sequenced terribly. But Travis is so irredeemably boring 95% of the time that it doesn't matter. I've listened to this album probably five times and I don't remember a single line Travis said on this entire album besides 'stroke my cactus' and the part where he gives a nod to Day N Nite. I've never heard another album that's sequenced and maintains a sound this well that has such lackluster individual songs. It's actually kind of baffling to me. Even if Rodeo is a terrible listen front-to-back and Travis still isn't that interesting, the star-studded guest line up and the grandiose production makes each song feel like an event. How can you borrow this much from Kanye, Future, Young Thug, Rae Sremmurd (and h---, even Kid Cudi) and have nothing to show for it?

21 Savage renegaded the whole album

Get ready for the s--- storm. We talked about this before but I completely agree, Travis is so forgettable on this album and it is just flat out boring.

You starting to come around to 21 now? Definitely took me some time but I'm a fan now.

I agree with pretty much all of this except for the part where you hold it against him.

Like this is a really cohesive, enjoyable, well put together project and the only major negative to it is Travis. Yeah he has no quoteables, yeah he brings nothing new, but what he does just kinda works. Something about his voice and his flow just kinda fits and makes good songs , his music is good but its not because of him.

I kinda think of travis albums the same way i think of DJ khaled albums, or Dj Esco albums

Agreed. Plus the way mike dean mixed the album bothered me as well. He made the vocals loud af so that you can barely hear the beat which is key in travis scott projects. Makes you have to pay more attention to travis

Fair, but they don't market themselves the same way as Travis - he didn't even write down the features on this lol. He wants to be an artist. Esco and Khaled know they're curators.

Travis to me feels like a part of the instrumental, if that makes sense. He's not a spitter and to me, that's fine. Maybe I've been conditioned by the decline in quality or whatever, but I don't really care much about bars. I don't what it is, but that allows me to really enjoy Travis' music. It's atmospheric sonically and Travis blends in to it, almost to a fault. I would never argue with someone who just hates his music and what he represents, because I understand why people think the way they do.

I get that 100%, I'm not a person who only values "bars" in rap. I can appreciate why someone would enjoy this for its atmosphere. The thing that bothers me about it is Travis tries so hard to be an 'artist' with his music but it doesn't feel like his art in any sense. The first time I really listened to Monster and enjoyed it a lot of what I was listening for was for the aesthetic, but even then before I was fluent in understanding Future's crooning it felt personal to Future himself. It felt like it was his. You get no sense of that with Travis, which is fine, but he tries to paint himself as something he's not.
