Aug 19, 2015 i never gave it much thought being that this is a forum and all but recently i started to notice some people are pretty particular about grammar and sentences in general.. like it's a guideline of some sort they tend to treat it like it's something special that only some people know how to do i've always typed like this here but does the way i type effect how intelligent you view me? is it an indicator of any kind? this is my typing style here on s80, why? i don't know but it works for me If I suddenly started typing correctly and with the best possible punctuation, would that change how you think about me? Does it magically make me come off like I know what I'm talking about? It is more appealing to your eyes or something? I would like to know the opinion on this matter because apparently typing properly has more meaning behind it than I originally thought. I might just have to start typing like this, especially if it means I now have more merit behind my words. Maybe now I can finally say something and have someone take me seriously. I know how to type guys!!! TLDR, your not smart nor does it indicate how intelligent you are because you type properly and no it's not a form of currency to determine if someone knows what they are talking about or not everyone knows how to type like this Woops, I mean: Everyone knows how to type like this. You're not special.
Aug 19, 2015 lol Actually agree with your post, proving how extensive your vocabulary is on a message board doesn't have any merit whatsoever. We're trying to make us understand, not showing how many Thesaurus tabs we have open in our browser of choice. That being said, I haven't seen anybody here bragging about their grammar skills, so I don't quite understand OP's intentions behind this thread
Aug 19, 2015 Yes, I do e-respect anonymous internet users who use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. people that type like this can die, i'm looking at you @WPG
Aug 19, 2015 Someone probably called @Final a r----- for typing like a r-----, so he got self-conscious and made this thread.
Aug 19, 2015 A lot tbh, unless I know the person and their posts. I myself fluctuate between typing great and typing halfassedly. It's generally just whatever mood I'm in dictating how I type and whether or not I'm being lazy. I always proof read my posts though, regardless.
Aug 19, 2015 I don't care how someone types on a forum, or if they choose to use bigger words in their posts. But I agree with this to an extent. It does get annoying at times lol.
Aug 19, 2015 idk i just started to notice the mentality behind typing properly and having some sort of merit on how intelligent someone is about what they are typing i've probably taken more english and writing classes than half the users here but i don't go around acting like i'm somehow smarter than someone else because i know how to express myself on a keyboard properly I've probably taken more english and writing classes than half the users here but I don't go around acting like I'm somehow smarter than someone else because I know how to express myself on a keyboard properly. look at the difference, a period here, a comma there, big whoop it's the same sentence yet if i use the top one i'm stupid?
Aug 19, 2015 I literally choose to type the way I do because it's how I like my posts to appear. I'm going to start typing like this now. Maybe people will think I'm a better poster!
Aug 19, 2015 I go back and forth. Sometimes I type everything properly with proper capitals and punctuation and s---. other times i feel like bein lazy and typin like this lol. idk how it effects what people think tho
Aug 19, 2015 Final made this thread because I told him to differentiate between your and you're properly lol
Aug 19, 2015 I don't know @JFK, I think this is stemming from the conversation about the writers/reviews for the site and my Witcher 3 review. I even remember after I posted my review, @Koolo was like "Did you write this???" as if I just copy/pasted it from somewhere. I got the same reaction from my Illuminati piece too. It's just weird I can appear to be "smart" by changing the way I type. It's not a noticeable difference or any indicator of how much effort I put forth in my typing/writing.
