I'ma get heat for this but w/e. I'm hearing some similarities between TPAB & TES/Kendrick & Eminem. I'm not saying dot copied Em to a T but I hear similar elements of music & content between the two of them. Or maybe I'm just hearing what I want to hear. Just feels like Dre gave some advice to Kendrick about Em's route to leading a culture charge that media might not like & Kendrick took what he needed from that for his own route.

    Anyone agree/disagree? Examples?

    • I think KK sounds a lot like the feel of an Em single
    • Hood Politics for some reason reminds me a lot of Eminem
    • Kendrick's content & opposition of America and the powers that be seem similar to what Eminem opposed except dot is more focused on racial side

Inevitable reach comments follow so without further ado... :jr:

Not the sound homie, sound is entirely different. More content side, some lyrics, feel of moments in the album.

idk, maybe it's more of a thing where you can feel in parts of these songs that a lot of care was taken to make sure they sound how they sound & the only other artist that I've heard put as much dedication, care. & perfectionism into their music is Em.

Not completely, but yeah I get what you're saying. TBTB reminds me of TES in a few ways. Business/King Kunta both as track three, Hood Politics, Putting his privacy in front of everyone (u) , The Dre Co-sign, etc.

These are the ones on the top of my head. I'll think of more after relistening to TES

I get what you are saying... but no. But aspects of u reminded me of eminem. also the political aspect in a way that Em ouched on in TES

Kk definetley sounds like an em first single... But beyond that I don't see much. Kendrick actually makes albums with concepts and narratives behind them, something em never really did.

Em did have narratives/concepts behind his albums I think, or atleast TES. But Kendrick puts more into the concept side with every aspect of his music from the way the sounds evolve to the way the narrative evolves & how both the sounds & narrative work together.

The only thing that even remotely reminded me of Eminem was the transition in U kind of reminded me of Stan (the rain drops/Dido singing gives off kind of the same vibe as the faint singing in the transition). Outside of that, this project is completely different from any Eminem project.

the epic moment of that track was when kendrick made that gulp sound. He was crying like a hoe that got robbed

Pretty sure the gulp was him drinking alcohol, hence the "and if this bottle could talk" line. But no I agree, it adds to the emotion and complete hopelessness of the track.

I've always heard Em influences in Kendrick's music. So I wouldn't say it's completely reaching.

everyone that posted in this topic is r-----ed

he's not talking about the f---ing sound being the same

yes kendrick is using the blueprint in terms of culture shock/change , it's like an electric jolt to the genre

ya'll confusing musical objective with actual musical influence , no s80/gkmc/tpab doesn't sound like sslp/mmlp/tes

yes tpab is the musical change that tes was and yes kendrick is using the aftermath method

    yes op

you guys act like if i say kendrick is the new eminem, you instantly think about those words and directly compare them as if they have the same content

think less about the words and more about the purpose

if you listen to u and don't have the same emotional reaction (for lack of better words) that you had when you listened to kim, then lol

i'm not even going to bother elaborating on what that means , the song is placed on the album with the same goal , regardless of actual lyric difference

(one being about killing girlfriend, one being about hating yourself)

Nah, it's more like exactly the same as Relapse because Kendrick alters his voice and uses accents.
