Jul 18, 2016 Leading up to it, it's fair to say many thought that this would be Drake's magnum opus. But when the wait was finally over we were met with a collection of uninspired, lazy attempts at a cohesive project. Most of the lyrics are either not well written or seem like they were sloppily put together to complete a verse. The song concepts have all been done before and the overall vibe and execution feels like a watered down sequel of Take Care. The only thing that this album has going for it is the production, and even that is limited to a very narrow margin. Drake obviously had most of the work laid out for him but even the hard work and clear direction from others couldn't save this project All in all, I was expecting a great - potentially classic album and was dissapointed Curious to see everybody else's thoughts
Jul 18, 2016 "The song concepts have all been done before" so what? a song's concept doesn't need to be unique to be good
Jul 18, 2016 Unique to the artist, embarking to new territory and not retreating back to a trash attempt at what made the artist good 6 years ago
Jul 18, 2016 It is extremely hard to be a Drake fan at this point. Even worse considering he didn't do most of the work on this project
Jul 18, 2016 agreed Drake didn't have much to say, it def shows. Lyrics are s--- in a lot of spots, whether it be on deep & personal tracks or even intentionally simple tracks; they're glaringly weak & at times embarassing. There are highlights/good spots ofc (Keep Family Close, Views, etc.) but it's a small few. It's outweighed by the weak s--- production on this is pretty meh compared to his prev two projects, the whole ambient cloudy music thing is done to death here & is hella dull at times; ridiculously repetitive & same-y can't say its good, it's also not horrible, but yea not even avg, s--- is pretty weak. slightly below middle, 4.5/10
Jul 18, 2016 A lot of people were only disappointed because they expected a classic. I think the direction Drake took was clear: He wanted to make an album that had hits on hits on hits. I like Views for what it is.
