Eminem Kendrick and Eminem, 2000

    Let's pretend Kendrick's Aftermath debut "good kid, m.A.A.d city" came out in 1999, the same year Eminem's Aftermath debut "The Slim Shady LP" came out. After these two albums, we get a real taste of who these two very different artists are.

    Fast forward to 2000. Eminem releases his sophomore album "The Marshall Mathers LP" and Kendrick drops "To p---- a Butterfly".

    You're broke as f--- and can only buy one. Which one would you buy?

    Eminem was the first rapper that really got me into hip hop, I was 11 years old when I first heard Hi My Name Is on the radio and was instantly hooked. Then when MMLP came out it straight blew my mind.

    The Eminem hype will NEVER be duplicated. Everyone dyed their hair blonde, had to hide the CD from their parents, etc.

    If TPAB was released in 2000 would have sounded more incredible then it does now.

    Eminem was everywhere back then. I don't see any homies besides my best friend singing along to "King Kunta" xD

    Several of my friends that I've talked to about TPAB think it's nothing special. I disagree with them, but it seems to get less praised outside of the forum.

    But on the other hand - almost all of them treat eminem's first three like they were god's gift to earth.

    I personally think in a few years their opinion will change when taking the later albums into account

    I dont think the sound of tpab would of worked as well in 1999. Em was a f---ing beast back then no one was anywhere close

    If you say tpab your lying or are too young to remember how much of a buzz he had. There was people campaigning against him in the street and all over the news

    Limewire debuted 20 days before MMLP dropped. The more you know.

    Question, are you the same age you are now circa 2000 or do you revert back to being a kid? Coz the younger me would've chosen MMLP, the current me would choose TPAB.

    putting aside the fact that kendrick became kendrick by digesting all the rappers before him… kinda like cell from dragon ball z

    MMLP because if Kendrick came out in 1999, no one would give a f--- about him

    i say that most sincerely as i can :kanyebeautiful:

    people love kendrick now because he's bringing what no one else is anymore

    back then, we had TONS of goat artists releasing material .. kendrick would have just been another rapper

    timing is everything, thats why eminem even worked in the first place and thats why kendrick is working now
