Jun 2, 2015 It's not a bad song and to me it's even somewhat enjoyable. In fact, if it had been mixed by somebody like Dre(or anybody who knows how to f---ing mix a song) and that God awful bridge was scrapped or better yet done by Eminem himself I'd say that this is even really good for Eminem in 2015. Objectively this isn't a good song, at all, but as a longtime fan of Eminem I can appreciate something like this in 2015, especially after reaching the lowest of lows during the MMLP2 era. It's really pretty sad and pathetic that he has set the bar so low that if there is no toilet talk/punchlines then more often than not I'll walk away pleasantly surprised from an Eminem song. TLDR Not a bad song. If it was mixed better and that terrible bridge was gone it'd have been MUCH better. Light years better than anything from MMLP2 but still a tier below GOF and Fine Line. I expect some decent stuff on the soundtrack.
Jun 2, 2015 I think its going to do what it was intended and be great for the film because surely they will only use the hook which is fantaatic so in my eyes successful song for its purpose but definitely forgettable
Jun 2, 2015 Agreed 100%. Especially about the mixing. Hate Liz Rodriguez's contribution too.. Khalil and Eminem need to not work together anymore imo.
Jun 2, 2015 well, it's not even his worst album lol could honestly do without "inspirational eminem" which it seems you really gravitate towards given your love for recovery/gof/this etc
Jun 2, 2015 implying those three things don't happen on his inspiration songs? wasn't he talking about wiping his butt on survival or something
Jun 2, 2015 Just like I can do without a 40-something year old man rapping as Yoda, talking about stabbing himself in the gut while wiping his butt and telling us cringey stories about picking his nose and taking a s---.
Jun 2, 2015 his flow, while not always all the way there seemed more fluid on a majority of the songs on mmlp2 versus everything he's done since. obviously haven't forgotten about any of those cringe moments Groundhog Day, brainless, evil twin, legacy, don't front all better songs than phenomenal
Jun 2, 2015 I prefer some mmlp2 songs over it had it been mixed properly. Now it's a mess because of that. Ignoring that I don't hate it either. But I still prefer GOF, Fine Line and 5/6 MMLP2 songs over itm
Jun 2, 2015 Bad Guy, Rhyme Or Reason, Groundhog Day, Evil Twin, Brainless and even Love Game are all arguably better than Phenomenal lol
Jun 2, 2015 Weird. I'm a stan and this song is freaking bad in my eyes. The god d--- awful bridge by Liz. The ear hurting hook and the especially random bad male vocals. Third verse is fine, but the song has such unpolished production. It's not really a pleasant listen at all. A huge disappointment. But I'm glad it's just a soundtrack single and not from his new album.
Jun 2, 2015 Yeah to be fair his rapping could have very well been great on that album I honestly don't really remember. Content is everything to me and when the stuff he is rapping about is literally giving me those embarrassed goosebumps/chills my appreciation for anything else he does goes right out the window.
