Yea when I think current ny rap I think Joey badass types essentially recreating late 90s rap with updated prod. Dave east is a good example. It's weird even Houston which I feel is so deeply attached to their mid 90s and 2000s roots have developed their own new sound in the past few years.

Even Joey has kind of conceded regarding his major singles that bolster his albums. The talents I enjoy, Conway Ka Droog etc, will never have that pop crossover appeal because of their "purity".
