May 13, 2015 What are some movie franchises that had sequels that were better/equally good than the original? I can only think of Indiana Jones (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade might be better than Raiders of the Lost Ark) and Back to the Future right now Edit: Lethal Weapon 2 was at least as good as the first one
May 13, 2015 I like the original, but I never busted out laughing My dad and I went to see this, and were in tears throughout the whole movie. I seen it recently, still hilarious.
May 13, 2015 LOTR, The Godfather, James Bond, Nolan's Batman Trilogy, Man With No Name Trilogy, A Better Tomorrow
May 14, 2015 Back to the Future 3 is by far the worst of the trilogy. Agree with Godfather and Die Hard Mighty Ducks 2 Toy Story 3 Before Sunset
May 14, 2015 I thought Hangover 1 and 3 were good. 3 wasn't as funny but it had a clearer, more dramatic storyline to it. I enjoyed both. Second was ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
May 14, 2015 Agree with Before Sunset/T2/Godfather II Evil Dead II Pusher II Mad Max 2 Catching Fire X2
May 14, 2015 I was of the same opinion until last weekend. Marathoned all 3 and 2 wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered it being. I liked the subplot about Alan not moving on from the first trip and how it set Chow up as the larger than life character that represents chaos that would manifest itself in the 3rd movie. Plus that d--- dealing monkey scene set to Pusherman had me dying
May 14, 2015 I haven't watched 2 since it came out. might watch it this weekend or something to see if my opinion is the same. the movie had some funny one liners for sure but the plot was basically a duplicate of the first. the third one was more of what I was hoping the second one would be
May 14, 2015 I understand the criticism, and I watched it with that in mind specifically. I ended up coming to the conclusion that it was a "d---ed if you do, d---ed if you don't" scenario. If he made it veer from the formula too much, especially caught up in the Hangover zeitgeist of the late 2000's, people would condemn it for that. My theory is that he understood that he would be criticized for the choice to repeat the formula, but that it was necessary at the time because people wanted more of the same at the time. Plus, I think it has it's own tone in that the events emotionally f---s with the characters more so than in the other two movies. I mean, Stu got creampie'd by a f---ing transvestite. That's dark as f---
May 14, 2015 Scream 2 Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Purge Anarchy (100 times better than the first) The Raid 2
