    Neon Indian - VEGA INTL. Night School - 8.7/10

    Out of all the albums I’ve listened to this year, VEGA INTL. Night School might be one of the most fun records I’ve heard. Mixing a number of genres, from synth pop to vaporwave to chillwave to funk to electronic music, the album is surprisingly cohesive, meshing these genres together with ease. Neon Indian aka Alan Palomo creates a universe that not only looks back at the 1980’s, but rewrites it in his own vision.

    Deerhunter - Fading Frontier - 8.1/10

    As of writing this, I’m currently having trouble getting into previous Deerhunter albums, as there’s a lo-fi element to them all that needs more effort from myself to get into. However, I found myself getting into Fading Frontier pretty easily, ditching most of the distortion of their previous records for a cleaner sound without taking away what makes Deerhunter unique. The vocals and instrumentation would have you believe this is a happy record, but digging deeper we find something more cold and dark, which is perfect for a new listener of Deerhunter.
