May 15, 2026 at 2:41 PM I'm listening so I don't break my streak of not missing a review period, gonna try and get through the non iceman ones tonight
May 15, 2026 at 3:11 PM I got up to the Central Cee song on Maid Of Honour and tapped out last night lol
May 15, 2026 at 3:20 PM I heard he dropped three albums just to get out of his contract with his label. No idea if it’s true though.
May 15, 2026 at 7:08 PM When I suggested that we review Iceman I promise I had no insider knowledge that he was dropping 3 albums lmao
May 15, 2026 at 9:43 PM I own a copy of the peoples champ lol Both of the tapes with Chamillionaire are great
May 15, 2026 at 9:52 PM To be fair I think it’s perfectly acceptable if people only review Iceman and don’t bother with the rest lol
May 16, 2026 at 12:35 AM You can just count my Iceman score but I'm doing the other two for the love of the game, im too far in.
May 16, 2026 at 12:39 AM Madvillian - Madvilliany RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 10/10!!!! MF DOOM and Madlib really created a different world with this album. On the surface it may seem like a dude just rhyming random s--- really well, but when you go deeper you realize it’s not that at all. Yes, MF DOOM rhymes really well with wordplay off the charts, but he also builds whole characters with this album along with Madlib doing more world building with the beats and samples. This really feels like a villain origin story out of a comic book or an old superhero film/show. It may be jarring at first to listen to. With such complex rhymes, people may have a hard time relaxing while listening. But there’s just something about how this album eventually clicks with you. Eventually it takes hold of you and immerses you in its world. Once that happens, it can actually be very relaxing to listen to. You either get it or you don’t. MF DOOM and Madlib inspired so many people, but it’s a vibe only they can create. @AOTWClub
May 16, 2026 at 2:27 AM Catching up to this thread lmao. @Justin Trudeau I've been wanting to go back to US but thinking about going to Canada somewhere next year instead. Also thank you for that change and we don't have to combine the Drake albums. I'm probably the one that likes Drake the most itt (or at least hates him the least) except maybe newborn stan @Ripper Roo ( ) but even I think the other 2 s--- a--- mostly. Iceman is solid so I'm happy to giving it more spins. But I get him for doing the others for the contract thing completely. But first the 2 albums on the list, luckily I know both.
May 16, 2026 at 3:00 AM Metallica - And Justice For All I don't want to take away anything from pop or rap producers. But making a beat that mostly keeps repeating itself on a loop is imo on an entirely different level from a band actually playing music for minutes straight. A killer guitar solo, a drum solo, whatever, that is actually making music in my book. That said, I am not a fan of long tracks. No matter how good they are, after 4 or maybe 5 minutes I'm done. Exception maybe for long posse cuts and beat switches where it sounds like a new song is starting. And Justice For All is a good example of a great rock album except... I don't really like it. On a festival 2 years ago I saw a Metallica cover band (they were called Meatallica lmao) and they were really f---ing good. They did Nothing Else Matters, obviously, and One and some others. It was great but after 2 songs I already had enough of it because the songs were like 7 minutes or something. Which is also my 'issue' with this album. 3 or 4 minutes in I'm already like okay next even knowing there's gonna be a killer solo coming or a switch up. I really like the opening, it's 6.5 minutes which is okay. But then the second track comes in and its almost 10 minutes. Is it a bad song? h--- no. It takes almost 3 minutes before the vocals start. One is a different song from the ones before (which are very similar) I like that. Def prefer the calmer songs they made. Later the song changes and because it sounds entirely different I don't mind the length. Guitar part is so good! Harvest Of Sorrow is a bit shorter. To Live and To Die is another thing for me. I don't like music without vocals. No matter if its rap, or rock or whatever. Doesn't help its also 10 minutes. Only times I like it is when it's a movie soundtrack like the Halloween theme or something. Is the song impressive as f---? Sure. But not my thing. So how do you rate an album you appreciate but don't really like? People say you can share an 'objective' view but everyone with a brain knows there's no such thing. Even people that call themselves critics are heavily biased by their personal taste an opinion. Which is fine, but don't act like it isn't the case lmao. Going with an 8/10 simply for how great it is in it's genre and I can sure see that. Even if it's not my thing really. @AOTWClub
