    I don't believe in that really. But I do agree that it was a very important album and very well made. Even if I am not a fan myself

    Oh in terms of personal enjoyment something being considered a classic doesn't at all matter but on a significance level it's different I agree.

    For sure, they have their own charm too but it needs to be delivered correctly which is a fine line to walk. Goes for every rapper, when it does hit it can be quite fun tho just not as a constant.

    For all the hate I give him Drake is a really good eye for talent and who to attach himself to musically. There's a lot but just speaking recently Yebba and Julia Wolf are so f---ing good

    @jankland I also said it in the other thread

    Lookin on Metacritic now, Iceman has 6 reviews. Few mixed, few positive and a few negative.

    One gave it a 8.4 another a 4. I noticed someone calling Janice stuf a lazy filler song where people here said it's one of the best tracks and exactly what Drake should be doing.

    This, to me at least, proves there's no such thing as 100% 'objectively' rating music. What is good to one, is s--- to someone else. Sure if everyone agrees something is good, you could say it's considered a great album. Or vice versa.

    But in the end it's (imo) all just taste and what people are looking for in music.

    Of course. These albums have been pretty divided overall. All art is subjective even if there is some objective metrics like influence or impact on the medium its a part of. Like someone might find a Van Gogh painting to be boring or not like Citizen Kane as a movie but they're heavily important, influential, or used as reference for other great art. As an example to stay on topic, I've never been a big Drake fan personally but if someone were to argue Take Care is a classic at this point I don't think I'd be able to argue all that well against it.

    I could have articulated better but my main point to make is that there's nuances and in depth thoughts in people's personal experiences to pieces of art that I find much more interesting to discuss than just calling something good, bad, or boring. Not everyone wants to engage in entertainment that's made purely for enjoyment in that way, which I can totally understand. I just find it personally fulfilling!

    Although I will say I do enjoy someone with immense hatred for something with no articulation cause it's extremely funny, I just think internet discussion of art has been boring for a long time because of a lack of nuance.

    This year has felt slower for rap for sure but I also haven't been keeping up with new releases as much. Whenever I have a chance to listen to music on my own I've been going to familiar stuff which I want to break out of a bit.

    Need to catch up on a bunch of releases rap and otherwise from this year, R&B and Spanish music are big blindspots to me as well that I want to visit some classic records of.
