Jun 2, 2026 at 12:47 AM There are some deep references on Kamikaze alot of people missed. Specifically the “I been going for your jugular since Craig G Duck alert” line. This was aimed at Joe Budden. Some hip hop history for you Gen Z. Craig G was a top tier Battle rapping freestyle rapper, and apart of the Juice crew. This Queens collective were pioneers of beefs, Disses, and responses to disses on records. You may have heard of the Roxane wars that are credited as the start of diss battles. Yeah, this collective was apart of that. Also considered the ones that started posse cuts. Kool G rap, Craig G, MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace… you get my point. People think this was just a silly random line about an old rapper. It’s not. It’s a direct and clever shot using actual hip hop culture and history context. And yes this was aimed at Budden who even responded on his pod mocking the Butt is hurt line. Now I’m gonna go even deeper. Craig G actually worked on 8 Mile. Yeah em wrote all the raps, but Craig G actually wrote on the film as well and is credited. He wrote most of Xzibits rhymes. I actually wrote a lot of the opponents lyrics. I wrote 80% of Xzibit’s verse. I’m on the DVD in the bonus footage, man. I respect the fact that they hand-picked me to do that, but I don’t go around like, “Hey! Eminem respects me!”. It’s not that serious. It’s more the fact that I was actually at The Shelter – the club the movie was based on – and I battled a bunch of guys there, in Detroit. I happened to walk up in there by accident. I did a show in Miami, then we drove to Detroit but the show got cancelled. So me and Will Pack are in the hotel with a g--- of weed that I got from Florida, so we say, “Yo, let’s go get a Phillie”. This is the Phillie days, 90-something. We walk to the gas station, we get some Phillies, and every time this door opens, we’re hearing music playing. It’s like warehouses, so I’m like, “What the-?” So we follow the music and walk into the club, and it’s The Shelter. Me and Proof battled and a bunch of other MC’s. That’s how me and Proof – rest the dead – became real good friends. So maybe that had something to do with it, and the fact that I met Em and Paul and ‘em way before any of the hub-bub happened, when Em was promoting Infinite. I was actually the judge at the Rap Olympicswhere he was at that battle. I also did the character Dangerous’ verse in Get Rich Or Die Trying. So in this one line Em shoutouts Craig G who worked on 8 Mile and is a battle rapping freestyle legend and icon in hip hop being apart of the juice crew. A collective of emcees em was inspired by. Budden knows these songs, he knows the culture and that s--- stung him. after this he had another pod where he was crying about em not going hard enough at him. Mocking the Butt is hurt line. Not realizing that’s also a direct line from duck alert. So yes this is very connected and real emcees can read between the lines. Kamikaze song is abot mumble rappers of course but that specific verse is at Joe. And I've come to pay respects 'cause if you sleep, you're f----- Other words, you get laid to rest And I hope your butt is hurt Put me on a track, I go cray on it like a color book You got some views, but you're still below me Mine are higher, so when you compare our views, you get overlooked these are keywords. Quick bar breakdown. Em verse is talking to Budden. You slept on revival. Your butthurt. Views compare to streams/podcast views.pay respect, because in that very video I just posted Joe says em is the greatest wordsmith in rap. He paid respect but still trash him. This was always aimed at Joe. the butthurt line from Craig g duck alert is actually what that song is about. See Craig was in a beef with rival Kiss FM radio dj host Red alert. See the parallels. Beefing with a MC rapper turn podcaster is just a modern form of that battle. It’s actually pretty clever how em chose this very specific rap battle. More interesting is that Craig G was known for freestyles, which is why the kamikaze verse literally ends with em freestyling in the booth with that flow that sounds like it’s deliberately coming off the top of his head. @Ripper Roo some fun history
