Surely none of us are balding! “Fantasy” is actually the first Alina Baraz song I ever heard! I’ve been in love with her music ever since (she recently released 2 new singles after years of absence, I hope she’s releasing an album for the summer!) I first heard it years and years ago. I can’t remember what time of year but it was probably during the summer. It’s just one of those songs you hear and are just surprised at how well it fits summer, it’s absolutely perfect for that. Great summer beach imagery in the lyrics as well. Joji does have some songs where his voice goes a bit deeper but yeah a lot of his songs, especially recent ones, he goes pretty high. He seems like one of those singers that are constantly trying to improve his range. Plus “NO FUN” mentions summer in the lyrics and just has that summer vibe to me. This is the version I wanted to include but was scared of getting low ratings. Agree w all of this He seems to be doing well now, he actually recently made a comeback video talking about the help he got during rehab I feel you on all of this bro, I’m glad you enjoyed it and I am thankful for the high rating! Besides Phoebe and Charli, I’m looking forward to Finn Wolfhard (July 10!), Future (July 10!), hopefully Alina Baraz with a summer album, Ariana Grande (July 31!!!), Tyla (July 24!!!), WILLOW (July 24!!!), CZARFACE (August 28), Ravyn Lenae (August 7), and Steve Lacy (July 17) just to name a few! Also I don’t listen to Gracie Abrams anymore but she has an album coming July 17 that I might listen to. And I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting. This summer is stacked for me! Its cool to get another Alina Baraz cut on here after the album, I enjoyed Fantasy. Very easy listening, very smooth. Can see myself listening to it when i get in my calm music moods. Gonna keep this one saved immediately. NO FUN is slightly more upbeat than I'm used to for the little Joji I've actually listened to. I dig it! Its not too short to me like a lot of his music too. I forgot about Blueberry Faygo and Lil Mosey in general lol. I appreciate the vibe of the tape so far! The song is pretty much the best you can get out of this kind of pop rap, thank you for the reminder! Super catchy, super chill. I don't think I'm familiar with piri & tommy at all or if i am i just dont know what but on & on is going to be one of my favorites of the tape immediately. This is basically perfect to me, always loved the jungle-y/breakbeat drums. Good a--- song imma have to listen to their other work. Tame Impala is basically a cheat code for any summery playlist and The Less I Know The Better doesn't get old. Just a great song thats a hit for a reason. Always loved how airy everything is on here. Whatever you think about Doja Cat as a person i always thought she was a pretty talented song writer for what shes doing and has a really nice voice. Say So is just one of those songs where you immediately know why its beat. Very easy listening. She has a lot of fun flows too imo. Very fitting to do Espresso right after cause for a while i only heard the chorus to this and thought it was a Doja song lmao. Basically everything I said about the last song applies here. Its not always my thing but I appreciate that Sabrina filled the void of extremely self aware silly pop star. I talked about Not Like Us for like 2 years now so theres not much to say anymore, just an equally funny and scathing catchy diss track. Very infectious all around, the flows are so fun to sing along with. Such a fun time to be chronically online, nothing like that will probably happen in the genre again and it was cool as h--- to be a part of it. INDUSTRY BABY is a f---in b-----r man, I'm happy Lil Nas X is seeming doing better cause he's super talented. For completely different reasons than Blueberry Faygo this is a perfect pop rap cut. And idc what anyone says Jack Harlow has a couple good cuts and features, he does great here. Just a fun a--- song. Hot Girl Summer is good for what it is, Meg can be hit or miss for me. Shes super talented but im just very picky about southern rap in general. Her and Nicki do their thing tho and Ty makes sure its catchy. Not something i go back to but i respect the inclusion. I'm much more familiar with his sisters work in general but Jaden does a really good job on BYE. Super smooth, pretty simple in terms of delivery and lyrics but i think thats a really good thing in this context. Very catchy, very vibey. The small rap verse works, production is great. Happy it committed to a 5min runtime. Kinda love this one. Im not doing the spaces between every letter cause thats a b---- but Transparent Soul f---ing rips, WILLOW genuinely just makes sick a--- music. I've been listening to a lot of music like this recently and it's been a minute since i bumped this so i was very happy to see this here. I think Travis Barker really oversaturated himself in the genre, there was a minute he was working with literally everyone amd it got annoying but he is one of the most talented drummers ever so he f---in kills it as always. Been a minute since i bumped some midwxst, especially car seats. Forgot how good this one is. Whether its the poppier stuff or straight rapping he's super good. I wish the song was longer but its perfectly my vibe. Out of the hits on Sour i think deja vu is my favorite. Fun, catchy lyrics, smooth sound, great guitar tone. One of her most best bridges on the album which is something shes particularly good at. Just a good a--- pop song. I straight up don't think ive listened to Feels Like Summer since it came out, i don't remember f---ing with it like that and i like Gambino. Happy to report I really like it know though, idk I just think I've found an appreciation for slower music as I've gotten older. Just very calming. Very on the nose pick for a summer playlist (complimentary). Good a--- song. Over Now is a good closer for the overall tone of the tape, and the title for the last song is funny. The Weeknd is a weird artist to me cause I quite like his music but i never go back to it much. Him and Calvin Harris has really good chemistry here. Sounds a little less big than his albums if that makes sense? I appreciate that about it though just a super smooth cut. Overall great choice! Great tape! Fit the prompt perfectly, I think it'd hit even better if i was in just a slightly different mood. But i think the fact that i enjoyed it as much as i did when I wasn't in the perfect headspace about it is a big compliment, was sequenced pretty perfectly! Thank you for the tape Mr. DJ Roo! Yeah it’s one of the few upbeat Joji songs. He also has a few more in his recently released Piss In The Wind deluxe Blueberry Faygo is the only song I listen to of his lol I’ve been wanting to include on & on since we started these tapes, so glad I finally got to do so. Agree w all of this lol and Espresso could definitely be a Doja song, when you hear Say So and Espresso side by side you really realize how similar they are All fax bruh True. I basically had to include this one since it’s the whole inspiration for Forum Boy Summer lol I’m glad you kinda love BYE, so do I. It’s the only Jaden song I listen to but it has that perfect vibe to me. I always thought the song would’ve been huge if Post Malone sang it. Absolutely, can’t wait for her new album coming in a few weeks I think it’s one of midwxst’s best songs for sure deja vu made me feel nostalgic as soon as it came out, it just has that feeling to it for me. And now when I hear it it makes me nostalgic for summer 2021, I almost can’t separate it from that time period. “Strawberry ice cream in Malibu” is sooooooooo summer to me. It’s almost a perfect song to me. Feels Like Summer is another song I just had to include lol. I’ve always liked it but upon revisiting it for this tape I have a much deeper appreciation for it now.
