lets talk about this underrated era of one hit wonders and kids who made hits and dances. lots of people were like hip hop is dead, but these kids were just having fun and that was real hip hop is about. lyricism came after this era birthed some of the greatest club and party songs in the history of hip hop.

lets appreciate this era of great rap songs

The remix to DJ Unk's joint with 3Stacks was fire too. Was gonna post Jim Jones' We Fly High since it sort of came out around that time but not sure if it fits into the theme of the thread, that s--- was all over the neighborhood.

Strongly disagree with OP. Personally, I thought the whole "ringtone rap" era was too silly and every artist that fell under the category sounded too similar and could never fill a whole project with good songs, instead opting to bury gems under a pile of underwhelming tracks.

I much prefer todays dumb ignant catchy s---, like Rae Sremmurd.

The defining moment of this era for me was hearing someone blasting "Ay Bay Bay" by Hurricane Chris from their low rider while I was on the bus, and then in the span of 30 seconds, two peoples' phones went off and had the same song as their ring tone.

I'd take a thousand ringtone rappers over the whiney bs that's popular now.
