I think this is a pretty good question. Who had the better compilation album, Shady 1.0 or Shady 2.0? I think Shady XV gave us more quality over quantity. The Re-Up had ten more songs but the Stat Quo/Bobby Creekwater tracks on there were almost unlistenable and worse than anything Yelawolf did on Shady XV. All of the Eminem/50 Cent tracks on The Re-Up were amazing. But the second half of the album was mediocre at best. I give a slight edge to Shady XV.

    Shady XV 7/10
    The Re-Up 6/10

No Apologies shuts this debate down. Jimmy Crack Corn was pretty good if I remember, too. As far as non-Eminem songs go Get Low by Stat Quo and the Smack That Remix with Stat Quo and Bobby Creekwater were f---ing fire as well. Certainly better than the non-Eminem stuff on ShadyXV.

I always thought Murder by D12 was extremely underrated. Best D12 song since Proof's death.

How is this even a debatable discussion. Clearly Re-Up.

As an overall package I would give it to Shady XV, and I'm not saying that simply because it's newer. The Re-Up had a couple good songs but it also had a lot of filler, if I do remember correctly.

No Apologies was the gem of the batch, but IMO is sort of hampered by a weak(er) 3rd verse that, while decent, doesn't quite measure up to the quality of the first 2.

Plus, The Re-Up was at the height of his drugged out days and his voice was shot on those songs, although he did rap with a more normal rhythm cadence, rather than the double-time stop-and-go flow he sometimes employs now. IMO both versions have their ups-and-downs.

The reason why I say Shady XV is better overall is because it is more qualitative. Shady XV is more about the music than an exercise in promoting label artists. Shady XV is largely Eminem with guest features from Shady 2.0 artists, while The Re-Up was largely a compilation featuring Shady 1.0 artists with some appearances from Eminem.

I can definitely see getting more replay value from Shady XV than I ever got from The Re-Up.

I always thought the songs featuring Eminem on the Re-Up are criminally overlooked. Public Enemy #1 and No Apologies are classic Em. The Re-Up, Jimmy Crack Corn and You Dont Know all sound as though he'd heard the criticism of Encore and tried to step his game up.

SHADYXV is slightly better, because it has no fillers. Also Slaughterhouse & Yelawolf are way better than Cashis, Stat Quo & Bobby Creekwater! It would be nice though if 50 and Obie had a verse on it (the 1st CD), even if they aren't on Shady anymore.

Altough if I see only Eminem's verses on the two albums, I prefer his flow and his dark vibe on the Re-Up...

After the release of ShadyXV I actually checked out the Re-up again. For me, the Re-up is the more enjoyable of the two, although I skip some songs on it.
ShadyXV may have less fillers, which is a plus, but on the other hand I like Em's flow and rhymescheme on the Re-up better and I do think Shady 1.0 with 50 and Obie is the s---.
Still looking out for that Yelawolf album after what I heard on ShadyXV though.

I really enjoyed Re-Up when it came out. It was awesome hearing new Eminem since he was in the 'I'm on a break from rap/nope just kidding/no but seriously I'm on a break' type thing.

For me I'll always enjoy Re-Up more even though ShadyXV is a good album. The thought of listening to Re-Up makes me :rejoice: yet the thought of listening to ShadyXV makes me:noah2: for some reason.
Can always remember falling asleep hearing the solo Cashis track doe :drake2:

    Also Shady 1.0 >> Shady 2.0

Weren't the No Apologies verses and the Jimmy Crack Corn songs old though? The first two verses on No Apologies were re-used and if I remember correctly the beat for Jimmy Crack Corn was played during some D12 Studio Session and i'm guessing his verses for it were from that era too.

To my knowledge Jimmy Crack Corn was entirely new. The beat was played during a D12 session that was around the time of D12 World? So I'm guessing it was originally a D12 song that either didn't make the cut or they got f--- all done seeing as they were all messing about in the video :hov:

All of No Apologies were recycled freestyles though. Everyone at the time thought the 3rd verse was new.
