Apr 20, 2015 Should kendrick do another concept album? Yes he is great at it BUT, in making a concept album that means some of his best songs could be cut for the simple factthat they don't fit the concept.
Apr 20, 2015 He needs one more classic. then goat he shall be. I have no doubt he will one day be goat. he has dropped 3 classics. But I know he can top them all. I feel like him doing concept albums is holding him back a bit.
Apr 20, 2015 He can make a classic whether its a concept album or not.. I'd rather him to make a concept album than random songs on a project...
Apr 20, 2015 first of all @ToPimpALegend is a sick username, followed i want another concept album yes, but i will take section.80 type album as well
Apr 20, 2015 i'd love if every kendrick album is a concept album, far as those songs that get left out, he can always just release them like the cartoon & cereals of the world
Apr 20, 2015 it'd be dope if he put out small mixtapes, even if they are small with 5-6 tracks on them. put them out between projects since fully thinking out a concept can take time. especially if he wants to top TPAB
Apr 20, 2015 Nah, putting out mixtapes is so small time, especially when you're as big as Kendrick. On the flip side of that, if you're putting one out and selling it, that's going down as an album on your legacy.
Apr 20, 2015 so you really sincerely believe that kendrick is the greatest rapper of all time? there's no one whose catalog ranks above him? not scarface or jay or nas or ghost or doom or big or boosie or anyone? great.
Apr 20, 2015 if he had another run of high quality tracks and features like the run prior to and including GKMC, then he'd be one of my favorites of all time without a doubt
Apr 20, 2015 sure. absolutely. but cam and wayne are my two favorite rappers of all time. neither would be in my top five greatest.
Apr 20, 2015 I obviously think Kendricks higher up on like a, say, top 25 hip hop artists of all time list (you probably wouldnt even have him on one) but yeah I dont think with what he's done so far he's GOAT or anything. One of my personal favorite for sure. But sec80, GKMC, and TPAB are all lacking in someway (although I think TPAB is his best effort to date). And EP/OD are interchangeable/inconsequential in the grand scheme of things The most impressive thing about Kendrick Lamar to me was the 1-2 year run of just monstrous features and loose tracks. Was my favorite period of following any artist to date (most because I wasnt conscious of the genre back during Em or Wayne's runs)
Apr 20, 2015 I beleive that TPAB is good, but its flaws are glaring. At times it feels like "Section.80 For Dummies", he really overdid this on some songs, and it doesn't always work well (it fits a track like TBTB, but not Hood Politics where he goes full corn). A part of his audience has to mature and read about/learn a few things more, because he really isn't saying something new. In S80 songs he sounds much more compelling with his social commentary, but I guess some people enjoy being spoonfed. I like what he tried to do and undertand the concepts, the music is nice, some songs are great, but he could have easily avoided some bad choices regarding the execution, and make a better album imo. I still think it's quite good, but I don't agree with all that hype. GKMC is better, despite its weak finish. I also like S80 more than TPAB; OD and the EP are good projects to start with, and see his progress during these years (in which I've been a huge fan), and that yaer before GKMC was full of gems, he killed every feature, he dropped random tracks etc etc. Very good rapper, but some people are talking too soon, like they discovered rap last year or something. Chill, dudes. Btw can someone clarify this for me, is Lucy actually the devil? If yes, that's certainly something that no one has done before, kendrick so gud
Apr 21, 2015 ^ The album is only discussed in terms of r-----ed superlatives and how Kendrick is one of the greatest rappers of all time lol, a claim often left unsubstantiated other than lyrical density. It's laughable. I enjoy a few tracks from TPAB but it's anything but a "classic" album.
