Jun 5, 2017 Note from the staff: While SectionEighty supports news coverage in the aftermath of terrorist attacks, keep in mind that these attacks are intended by terrorist organizations to spread fear among those who oppose them, as well as aid in recruiting more members to carry out similar attacks. In other words, the attacks are more about the fear created and spread on the internet and by the media in the aftermath rather than the attacks themselves. We ask that you please keep that in mind (as well as being respectful to the victims in wake of a tragedy) whether you're participating in this thread or posting on your own social media. Thank You. ______________________ One man has been killed and a woman is apparently being held hostage at an apartment building in the bayside suburb of Brighton. About 6pm gunfire rang out in Bay Street and people ran towards a Coles supermarket for safety. Police confirmed at 6pm they were at the scene of a shooting and hostage situation in Bay Street, Brighton. Police were called to the apartment building at 4pm after reports of an explosion. It is believed to be a block of serviced apartments. On arrival, police found the body of a man who appears to have been shot in the foyer of the building, a police spokeswoman said. "Police are attempting to negotiate with a man in one of the apartments," the spokeswoman said. "It's believed he has a woman inside with him who he won't allow to leave." Crowds of people are have taken cover in the Coles supermarket as the situation unfolds. Victoria Police specialist units are currently at the scene. The Nepean Highway and Hampton Street remain closed. Antonia Waite, who lives off Bay Street, says her daughter was in the front yard when police, armed with "big guns", drove past about 4.30pm and told her to "go inside and lock the doors". Callers to radio station 3AW said they heard the sound of an explosion or loud b--- like a gun shot. A number of callers said they saw undercover armed police with bulletproof vests running up the street. One person said police had arrested a person and who was handcuffed at a bus stop in Bay Street. more: http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/r...ghton-20170605-gwkw32.html?platform=hootsuite -------------------------------- I'm on that street every weekend, walk past that building a million times. Was literally there on Friday. Still yet to find out what is going on and if it's terrorist related - probably not. My friend filmed the SWAT cops firing a fuckload in there just then. I've seen it.
Jun 5, 2017 Anything been confirmed yet? Some news sites are saying he saying "this is for isis and al-qaeda" Pretty weird target if it's true I thought it sounded like some domestic violence drama
Jun 5, 2017 A lot of my friends were thinking i was stupid to suggest terrorism was involved. Terrorism isn't necessarily blowing up a plane. These c---- are dumb as f---. Terrorism is still the motive if they just randomly s---t a guy cos allah told em to or whatever the reason ISIS says
Jun 5, 2017 It wasn't domestic. I live 5 mins down the road. The victim and him from what i gather didn't know each other
Jun 6, 2017 I don't blame them I didn't think it was terrorist related either. It seems pretty weird to target some apartment as a terrorist plot especially if you have a gun. You'd think they'd pick a more crowded public place
Jun 6, 2017 To be fair tho. So many of these losers who have the slightest shade in their skin when doin this would just say they're doin it for ISIS just to get attention and i honestly feel like ISIS just go along with it just to add insult to injury like "ahh yeh haha we did that haha f--- you"
Jun 6, 2017 These guys are dumb tho. I Don't buy it bein legit terrorism I've just kept sayin the whole time that's the motive even if its an idiot just claiming it for attention. I basically live on that street no one there would have done that
Jun 6, 2017 Like i just said tho. I meant the motive. As in some idiot saying he was doin it for isis. Not it actually being a legit isis massive planned thing
Jun 6, 2017 pretty much this, the shitskins know that if they yell allahuackbar before killing someone they'll become famous on the news. seems to me like the guy lived in the apartment and the guy he shot was like someone he'd seen there before and been like "this f---ing piece of s--- i hate him cause he's gay inshallah!" like for example, a shooting on the news lasts about a day. A shooting related to ISIS will probably gives us updates and s--- for the next few weeks while the shitskin faces trial etc
Jun 6, 2017 And like i said. ISIS claiming it just reeks of "ahh... what oh yeh melbourne? People were killed yeh that was us lol"
