Nov 24, 2017 I was in my car on my way to the strip club listening to Walk on Water and it really hit me that maybe Eminem is right. That there's nothing he can do to please all his fans. And this happens to all entertainers. Eventually people get tired of you and they want more and turn on you. But there's only so much you can do. There's only so many ideas you can come up with. This is why most sequels in movies are worse. It must drive Eminem crazy that he can't think of something that will please all his hardcore fans. He already painted many pictures like he said. And honestly I'm kind of stumped. I don't know what I would do if I were him. I guess he could just use the same voice he used to or at least attempt to. But even if he pulled it off perfectly, maybe some people would be disappointed because it'd seem like he's trying to hard to be his old self. And the thing is TES was a perfect album. Eminem would not only have to match it, but possibly top it, and even then not everyone would be happy. I'm not saying this gives Eminem an excuse though. He still had too many filler songs in some of his recent albums. But what I'm saying is it's unfortunate that you have to be a victim of your own brilliance. Because no matter how good your album is, people expect you to top it. Even if he topped his first 3 albums with Revival, why would it be enough? People would still want it to be topped again and again.
Nov 24, 2017 He could easily please all his fans and he wouldn’t even have to put in any work. Just release a album with unreleased tracks from 98-2003 Simple
Nov 24, 2017 Nah bruh imagine if he simply re-did Infinite and some of his old vintage unreleased s--- and just cleaned up the products and drop it unexpectedly like Kendrick's untitled. World would prolly go insane.
Nov 24, 2017 He’s a victim of himself. He has spent many, many years being the focus of his own albums. His life and everything that has happened to him. Now that he’s sober and he stays locked away in his house there isn’t anything new going on that people will find interesting. That’s where his struggles begin. He needs a career renaissance and to pivot away from his life and his struggles. Hopefully that’s what revival will do and going forward we’ll hear Eminem being passionate again. The one thing he can’t do is go back and talk about the same s--- he’s been talking about for the last ten years.
Nov 24, 2017 Exactly, polish up each verse or fk it just start with scratch and just use the Infinite instrumentals as backgrounds. idk its just a thought i came up with after listenin to Dont Front. We need to put Em in more beats like that instead of garbage s--- where theres no drums.
Nov 24, 2017 this to the max. Theres a reason why Kanye's or even Kendrick's discographies are really powerful. They touch on subjects that not only focuses themselves, but also incorporates their insanities with the newfounded struggles our state or our society faces today. They blend these struggles in with an amalgamation of genres ranging from gospel to jazz to rock and roll, and fuses them under the hip hop brand. Em has been so fkin selfish about his material lately that people cant even relate to. I mean, how the f--- is anyone going to connect with Em's insecurities in Walk on Water or his dualities in Monster or Survival if 90 percent of his fan base has never reached that level of success. We dont know how it feels to be Em but Em is just forcing this s--- on us cus thats how he feels.. He did try to incorporate the Beastie Boys vibe into his MMLP2 but god d--- Rick Rubin let us down so bad. The only true Beasties rock throwback was Berzerk, and even then, Rick Rubin thought that the production of that song was garbage. Idk tho, I think Em just needs to take a page out of Kanye or Kendrick's albums and just go concept on this or the next LP.
Nov 24, 2017 I'm an Eminem fan, but not a "he is godlike" stan-fan. I just like his music, have been listening to other genres more than to hip-hop. Because imho hip-hop has been dead for 10+ years. The days of Wu-Tang, Method-Man/Redman, Pac & Biggie, Jay-z, Nas, Big L are over. It's done, it's not coming back. Eminem, for me, is one of the last standing out of that era. So that's the main reason i've been checking him out still. But i was disappointed by the content of MMLP2 (cheap way to sell an album, calling it MMLP2 without good reason..) and hated Recovery. Imho we lost the Real Slim Shady when Relapse was criticised heavily. His confidence was crushed, because he was not used to being the GOAT. He was making songs for Relapse 2 named GOAT and that spirit in him just died when Relapse "flopped". Ever since, he has been under the microscope more than any other artist. He's consistent as f--- and trying to bring us exactly what we are asking for. If you listen to Recovery, you can hear exactly that: him giving us what we want. Problem is, we keep saying we want something different!
Nov 24, 2017 I believe I’m in the minority when I think that MMLP2, as an album name, was a good fit for what we got. MMLP was very much a snapshot of his life at the time of recording. His struggle with becoming a megastar pretty much overnight, the controversies his music created, the hypocrisy of said controversies etc. with MMLP2 we get a snapshot of what it’s like being Eminem at that point. A man struggling to reconcile his past and move forward, a mans who loves what fame has given him but hates being famous and a look into his every day life. There was not a single chance we were getting something as explosive as the first MMLP. It would be impossible. He’s relatively stable at this point in his life and nowhere near as controversial. Honestly I really like MMLP2. Outside of two songs the entire album(bonus tracks included) is very solid. The rick Rubin production is a love/hate thing and I happen to be on the love side of it. He made a sequel to Stan, he made a sequel(for the most part) to the way I am with so far. He reconciled with his mom for christ’s Sake lol. With that being said that chapter of his career should be closed. He has to move beyond himself moving forward to remain relevant. Concept albums not centered around himself would be the way to go.
Nov 24, 2017 Wu-Tang recorded an entire album and sold it to a single person. Not even a fan, just a man with a lot of money. They f----- over their fans and no one complained. Eminem spits a line about taco's and his entire song is s---, hes suddenly the worst rapper of all time etc. Method Man and Redman Blackout 2 flopped, not a single person cared.. 4:44.. h---, almost noone knows the album even exists.
Nov 24, 2017 You do know Wu-Tang released a new album last month right? Yeah, but they're releasing more music than Em is. So what if it was a commercial flop? You're so called Hip Hop is still being made. You can't say that its dead and then say Eminem is your last hope when half the people you listed as Hip Hop make more music than him currently.
