Anyone watching? It started off really corny but the last 3-4 episodes have been darker, grittier, great. I like that it's more storyline based rather than episodic.

I watched up the first 7 episodes and liked the direction it was heading... but I sorta just stopped watching. I'm thinking I'll continue recording the episodes for a while and then binge watch them on a s-----y day.

I like the show just because Im a fan of Batman in general. The show itself is hit or miss (the s--- with his wife is awful), but some of the casting is really great.

Im a fan of yung Bruce and Cat

    Alfred >>>>>>

Gordon was cast well too, and Donal Logue is just dope in general.

Is it worth putting in the time? I think I watched the first 2...might not have even finished the second one.

Watching this compared to shows on cable makes it look so bad...the acting especially.

So is this worth watching? I saw the opening episode and kinda hated it, but if it gets better I might give it a go.

The show is DOPE, IMO. I religiously watch every week, if I am not home to watch on Monday night I stream Tues morning. The performances have ranged from ok/passable to really interesting during the first part of the season.

I think that Ben Mckenzie is doing respectable as Gordon, trying to stay level headed and rational even amidst extraordinary situations. For some reason, I keep thinking about Gary Oldman's performance in the Dark Knight movies and comparing to Ben Mckenzie here, like in a "would Gary Oldman's Gordon do that?" kind of way. Donal Logue continues to steal almost every scene he is in, which I find great. Oswald Cobblepot is by far the most interesting character in the show, right next to Alfred, and the actor has done a commendable job bringing him to life. One of the weaker performances has been Jada, IMO. Maybe I just expected more of her just because she's more of an established actor, but she has hammed it up a bit too much, especially in the beginning.

I like how each episode ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and set up the next one. Although I liked the character dynamic, I didn't agree with Bruce getting involved with Selina at this point. I'm sure they didn't meet as children in the comics. I will say, however, that it is awesome getting to see Alfred kick some a--- from time to time!

Gotham is one of my anticipated shows of the week now. I find myself getting more excited for that than programmes I've been watching for years.

A few gripes I had went away quickly and I'm really enjoying the show. I just hope that if it lasts another few seasons they don;t decide to switch things up and have Harvey transform into Two-Face WAYYYYY before he should.

Developing a few villians way too quick (ex: Harvey Dent/Two Face) but the show as a whole is interesting if you're a Batman fan

If you compare Gotham to other shows out there like Homeland, Newsroom, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, etc etc etc...its not a very good show. I mean its not surprising since most dramas on network tv channels like FOX, ABC, NBC are very "basic" shows (maybe aside from a few exceptions Hannibal, Good Wife, Scandal).

Lets review Gotham, the acting is mediocre at best from the main cast and gets worse to bad when it involves episodic characters. Jada Pinkett takes the cake with her portrayal of Fish, just cringe worthy bad sometimes. Then the show relies on episodic stories to move along the "main" stories, which are not that captivating to begin with. In other words, the writing is very weak for a new show, I hope they don't go over 12-13 episodes because that's a bad idea in terms of coming up with show content. Then you have the production which is not impressive in the least bit to go with the limitations of having a show on NBC to what you can or can't show.

So basically, Gotham is definitely not the best TV show/series (not even close) you can find out there...if it is then you aren't looking hard enough.

Cant compare "network" shows with HBO, AMC, Netflix, etc. The budgets and content are completely different nowadays. I for one love those non network shows that you listed, but also feel that Gotham holds up really well for Fox.

Really enjoying Gotham so far. Mainly the previous 4 episodes. Oswald cobblepot is the s--- lol this whole feud with fish and falcone, curious as to how that storyline plays out.

In all seriousness, why cant they be compared? Paid Cable networks like HBO have bigger budgets on shows because when they create new shows they make sure that one series is going to be successful and that they have all the right pieces in place before they go forward with the show. With the network shows every new season, they fully know that they will have 20 new shows and that most will be cancelled, they throw s--- at the wall and whatever has "success" or high ratings will be renewed. Something like Gotham has a following right away because of the Batman theme.

I enjoy the show for what it is though.

Basically this. I'll add that the production suffers a lot from the extensive green screen usage and some poor editing. The biggest offender being when Bruce jumped between the two buildings. It had a lot of potential, but it's trying too hard to carry too many characters. Young Bruce is probably the worst character and time waster on the show. Although, I will say the g--- interactions is the most interesting part of the show.

It started off mediocre but the last 3 episodes have been pretty good. Worth giving it another season atleast.

The balloon episode was corny but it gets better right after that. I know it's supposed to be an origin story but if it lasts, I'd like to see it transition into a Batman series like Smallville did half-way through.
