Experimental metal. Lots of details to take in. Heavy atmosphere. Somewhere between hectic and relaxing.

btw just searched him on yt and he has many views so he doesn't really fit in here lol, I remember randomly listening to some of tracks from around the time I finished school, and then finding his bandcamp which is pretty empty, except from that one album. I thought that he was unknown, maybe I'm a hipster

Kinda f----- up punk rock/rockabilly, I don't know how I stumbled on this. I didn't really enjoy it tbh, but it's interesting. You may like it @CharlieWork

Lol wtf. Comes in like a Beach Boys surf rock song and then the vocals are metal. Interesting. Probably will check out the full thing

On November 11, 2014, the European Space Agency shared a recording of mysterious oscillations coming from Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. These were captured by their Rosetta satellite, which after a ten-year journey reached the comet some 510,000,000 kilometres from Earth.

All the tracks on Comet were produced using only samples from the ESA's recording, manipulated to varying degrees. Effects common to all music producers (equalization, compression, reverb, flanging, distortion) were employed to shape the audio aesthetically, but my vocal performances are the only other source of sound added to these songs.

With some pitch shifting (a negligible amount compared to the 10,000x by which the original 40 millihertz oscillation was sped up) I was able to transform the recording into sounds resembling plucked strings, kick drums, and buzzing synthesizers. By subtracting different frequencies I was further able to produce claps, snares, and hi-hats. On some tracks I used more advanced granular synthesis techniques to shape a 1-millisecond sample into rich bass and lead lines. I detail all of my processes in this video: youtu.be/ioAYxC6iqLs

This will be the anthem of my next exams

I had to google surf rock lol, I hadn't heard of the term before, it's cool that every sub-genre has its own name but I only use rock, punk, indie etc in conversations irl so I won't sound like a tryhard, at least at first]/spoiler]

I think genre pedantry has its place and time. I mean, I couldn't even define rockabilly so I had to put into my own lingo to talk about it. Had I known you weren't familiar, I would have just described the specific qualities. I use genres like a short cut for description. Part of the reason that it's a weird track is because it subverts the expectations of genrefication. You would never expect the light, fun melodies of surf rock to meet the dark growl metal of vocals. Came totally out of left field. Pretty neat.

I'm glad rap has avoided overclassification for the most part. Electronic music is a worse offender than rock could ever be with ridiculous specificity. What's funny is, recently I've noticed through watching documentaries that most bands I respect are at odds with the subgenres they're associated with. The best quote described stoner rock as really being grunge and that just the logical progression of hard rock from the 70s anyway. Everything is a lot more similar than it would appear on paper is what I'm trying to say. The exception is often the rule.

Ah no worries it's fine, it helps to know more terms like this. Most of my friends irl don't really have a wide range of music taste so I use the basics most of the time. The local music scene only consists of blues rock or stoner (and some thrash metal which isn't my cup of tea and these bands around here aren't even good anyway) so many people of my age just listen to similar stuff.

Some of the local music is really great though. This band makes stoner rock with elements from greek folk music (like the clarinet melody in Jannim). You guys might appreciate the music/atmosphere of the record despite the language barrier.
