When this came out I was like okay he’s getting kind of bored with rap he’s trying to experiment a bit so I gave him some leeway but now after thinking about it for 2 minutes you’re probably right because even though there’s some good stuff post rebirth I thibk his fall off directly correlates to this boredom

yeah i mean, vanity side projects are fine. but he was such a pure distilled prolific rapper that this was like the first cracks suggesting his judgement was going astray a bit. i wouldnt say his skills have declined necessarily but hes nowhere near that golden mixtape period and u can likely trace it to this pop period

then make ur own call, gump

Prom Queen/Rebirth at the time but in retrospect the cracks were starting to show on Dedication 3

I remember people saying he was starting to fall off post-Carter III and then saying he was "back" when he dropped No Ceilings.

Saw a lot of differing opinions (mostly from dustheads that hated the idea of Wayne being the best rapper) around the time C4 dropped. He did sound a bit gassed in some instances from 2011 onwards, but once the drama with Baby began he's been on a tear.

Definitely with my homies still but I don’t think he fell off as hard as people say

That might be true but I remember how crazy my six grade classroom was when Wayne got home and dropped 6 foot 7 foot. My teacher legit played it for us on the projector.

Even when IANAHB2 dropped when I was in eighth grade everyone was singing the singles walking down the hallways, playing it on their iPods etc

C4 is hella nostalgic, was just starting college and the singles were inescapable on campus--especially Papa Andy's favorite song How to Love.

Pretty emblematic how we had Take Care drop later that fall, was like Drake picking up Wayne's baton as the biggest rapper.

Being the absolute biggest rapper in the world and coming off an album that went platinum first week def made him complacent during the D3 recording process. He was rapping on autopilot for that whole tape.

When C4 promotion was going on. I do like the album but there is a very visible decline.
