Jan 11, 2021 So I apologize in advance if this is an often-discussed topic, new to this forum. But I'm curious - what are y'all opinions on what the best Eminem era was? Obviously he's changed a lot through the years, from Soul Intent, Infinite, MMLP, Recovery, etc. etc. Which era do you think was best and why?
Jan 11, 2021 Ranked: 1. 2001-2003 - 'Spotlight era' 2. 1998-2000 - 'Come Up era' 3. 2018-2021 - 'Comeback era' 4. 2008-2009 - 'Relapse era' 5. 2004-2007 - 'Pill era' 6. 2010-2013 - 'Pop era' 7. 2014-2017 - 'Fall off era' kept it in 3/4 year periods for the most part - ended eras around major shifts in direction/quality
Jan 11, 2021 You can’t go wrong with anywhere between 1999-2003. 2002 had The Eminem Show, 8 Mile & the start of the Benzino beef. Also, the My Name feature. So as far as output, easily that year. But I’d say 2000/2001 is his ability peak. MMLP, Devil’s Night. Features: Renegade & Don’t Approach Me.

Jan 12, 2021 He made a handful of his best songs during TES/8 Mile, but I also think that was when he started to lose some of the edge that made his earlier stuff so great. It's a good album but I think SSEP thru Devil's Night was the absolute height of his powers.
Jan 12, 2021 99-03. The rapping, classic songs(Lose Yourself, Stan, Sing For The Moment), classic albums, controversy, fame, 8 Mile, features(Renegade, Forgot About Dre, Patientily Waiting), etc. It was objectively his best era.
Jan 12, 2021 As a Pac fan, I've gotten some strong MATW vibes in certain songs like "Soldier." That's one of the reasons wby TES is my fave album from him but I wouldn't argue against anyone vouching for MMLP.
Jan 12, 2021 I can see that. TES was when it started going stadium rock. For me it's post ssep/rap olympics (97). basically from the bad meets evil/scary movies/SSLP sessions (summer 98) through until the straight from the lab leaks in 03. Went off a cliff from there. i could narrow it down to 98-01 though. 02-03 era is when 50 enters the equation.
Jan 12, 2021 oh yeah for some reason I was thinking SSEP was 98, I'd include 97 in that as well. 97-00 if I had to keep it four years—as good as some of the devil's night stuff is, SSEP era edges it out for me simply because it's solo and not D12 lol
