Not sure the whole story behind the scenes but I remember in like 2017 he got signed to 1017, and he’s rly close irl with trippie and I think he also had some sort of deal worked out with Caroline/Virgin/the general UMG conglomerate.

And idk how many Lil Wop fans we have here but u could immediately see like, Wopavelli 2 and maaaaybe 3 were the last albums he had any sort of creative control over (beyond mixtapes w trippie, which, even then who knows) and those came out like 2018/early 2019. Since then it’s been bland project after bland project once or twice a year. I think they literally f----- him outta any real $$ cuz by the last few albums he was using poorly cropped selfies for album covers lmao

Anyways he just dropped “Say Cheese”, an album he apparently not only independent published but solely produced as well (not sure if that’s legit or if he just finessed a lot of ppl out of beats, cuz he doesn’t produce afaik) and I was rly happy to see that. Haven’t gotten to listen yet but I will today and I’ll prob bump this thread with first impressions.

Even if it’s mid I’m happy to see him acquiring control over himself and it makes me waaay more excited to hear what comes in the future
