May 30, 2015 Most sequels never live up to the original film while others exceed the original and excel where it didn't. The Inbetweeners became a popular TV series in the UK about the life of 4 teenagers who are neither unpopular nor popular that eventually led to a film that broke records. Naturally, fans demanded more and due to the first films success a second film was made... But should it of been made? IMO The Inbetweeners 1 is the better film. We see the lads away from their familiar safe-zone environment from the series and thrown into the deep end on a lads holiday. By the end of the film the lads 'grow up'. They figure out (apart from Jay) what they are doing after they leave school, and they each find themselves a girlfriend. A perfect way to end the series. The Inbetweeners 2 is a good film, but doesn't match up to the first film. There are plenty of laughs, but the one thing I hated was how they basically neglected the ending of the first film. We know what happens with Jay and his girlfriend, Simon's has turned into a psycho and the writers don't even bother explaining what happened with Neil, Simon and their girlfriends. As much as I wanted a sequel in a way I wish they kept at one movie. They took a great way to end the series and threw it away.
May 30, 2015 Yeah, the first film was definitely the better one. Also, the four characters are based on some of the events the writers actually faced with in school, so they wrote their events into 4 characters, which I think is clever. If you don't like British humour or don't understand it, you most likely won't like it. But yeah, the end of the first film was great. It was as if they finally found out who they are as well. The second one was just a send off in my opinion for the lads and for the fans of the show. I do like both films though, but the first one is definitely my favourite.
May 30, 2015 The second movie is in a league of its own. Its a MILLION times better than the first movie, i feel the first movie was more of a test, to see what they could accomplish. I love the first movie, it stayed true to who they were & im so happy they didnt make the characters a parody of themselves. I don't like the idea of comedy sequels. In my opinion, there shouldnt be comedy sequels as they always take what makes the first movie funny & run it into the ground, ie, The Hangover. The first Hangover, in my opinion, would of gathered a cult following if it remained a standalone movie. They took what people loved with the first movie & thought it would be funny to recreate moments that made the first movie what it was. Another example would be Dumb & Dumber 2, which baffles me, it was a clear parody of what i would call a classic comedy, even the way it was shot was cheap, things like that sadden me, & really help back up how i feel. Now, back to Inbetweeners. The second movie in my opinion was a fantastic take on the characters, seeing them trying to progress in life while being held down by issues of their own making. I lost my love for the inbetweeners a few years back, i absolutely loved them, but as time went on i found myself breaking away from all the things that make me relate to them... however, when Inbetweeners 2 was released, i didnt even think anything of it, as i had moved on in life, but i downloaded it to add it to my external hardrive, since you never know when you might need a movie, & one night, my brother wanted to watch it, so as he started watching it, i caught pieces here & there, & as soon as i saw Jay's bs text, i put away everything i was doing, as i felt a real nostalgic feeling coming over me, so i sat down & watched it, i laughed from beginning to end, none of the jokes seemed forced & they showed us that sometimes in life, the only thing that changes is your age. I bought the movie straight after i saw it. The writers for this movie really pulled off a perfect script. I want one more movie, to round it off, normally id be saying h--- no about stuff like this, but i have trust in the inbetweener writers, director & everyone else involved in the process.
