Jun 6, 2015 Thought this could be a neat thread, where we can all share things that have put us on the path we're on with our work. Just post about anything you've heard/seen that inspired you to get into producing/rapping/whatever else. I'll post mine later on once I wake up.
Jun 6, 2015 I find staying up for long stretches until I'm slap happy to help a lot with writing. Really gives you a unique and strange thought process.
Jun 6, 2015 Same here, but for producing. Also my fellow Toronto producers such as Boi 1da, T-Minus, and especially Wondagurl since she was my mentor for a majority of my producing life. Love them and all the unmentioned others around here.
Jun 7, 2015 I find a lot of stormy weather influences me. It's a peaceful time for me. I quite enjoy the sounds of rain, and the dark grey skies. It aligns quite well with my feelings overall and my depression. there's just something about the gloomy nature of this^ kind of day that just feels right and just utterly beautiful And tracks like this accentuate that feeling for me and the mood that kind of weather sets for me Zeds Dead also in general sort of influences my work. They're very hip hop, yet very electronic/dubstep. I love the hybrid sound. The raw bass filled synths all over their work often send shivers down my spine, and they have a very signature sound with a lot of their synths and production in general. So much of their music is why I got into producing and why I produce like I do.
Jun 7, 2015 the mood and atmosphere of songs like Retrograde REALLY hit me and inspire me As does stuff like Nero's Welcome To Reality it's so cinematic and grand an album and it's got a hybrid of different genres all with an edm touch. there's also a ton of orchestral elements to it and their very signature sounding production with bass and synths all over it. their samples are great, and pretty much every track i think is just fantastic. and then there's this and then there's the epic soundtracks for games like Destiny and Halo. The choirs and atmosphere to those are fantastic and set the stage for something amazing. i have a very obvious thing for dark and brooding sounding s---. love music that builds and builds and hits with raw low electronic bass to contrast all the high notes from light airy synths and strings and really give you goosebumps
