Jun 16, 2015 s---. That's tough. I'd have to got with Scorsese though. I find I enjoy his films quite a bit more than I do with Spielbergs; not to suggest that his films lack in the entertainment aspect.
Jun 16, 2015 most Spielberg movies are kinda "weird", not necessarily in a bad way..just don't know how else to describe them. back to the future will forever be one of my favorite trilogy's tho quite a bit more fond of Spielberg movies, not to mention he casts Leo for all the goat roles and goodfellas
Jun 16, 2015 spielberg gets his just due as a producer, but is definitely underrated as a director. scorsese is still probably better--raging bull AND goodfellas AND casino AND taxi driver AND his post-2000 gems, etc--but spielberg is on a short list of americans, if we're being honest.
Jun 16, 2015 Scorsese is probably the correct answer but Spielberg is much better than people tend to give him credit for. There are shots in E.T. alone that are better than entire directing careers. People forget how expertly crafted films like Raiders and Jurassic Park are.
Jun 16, 2015 If I'd ask who I prefer, obviously Scorsese. Not saying his films are pandering, but as a young male, you can see why his subject matter appeals to me more. I think it also hits on a tendency for serious, dramatic content to be taken more seriously. That said, the question is who is the better filmmaker, which I think is a lot more difficult to answer. Both have such extensive and diverse catalogs.
Jun 16, 2015 right, producer. still had a strong hand in the film though also doesn't take away from my main point
