Jul 11, 2015 Since I upgraded to Windows 10, my computer has been over heating quite often, the CPU fan making loud grinding noises. The computer just shut down by it's self... When I had Windows 7, it never did this at all.. is anyone having this problem (who has Windows 10), or is it a coincidence?. this is worrying me, because all of my production material is on my HDD..
Jul 11, 2015 It's probably your cpu that's overheating, seems to be pretty common problem. It'll probably get fixed in the later updates. Download http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html and check the health of your hdds
Jul 11, 2015 I have crashes every now and then too but my CPU temperatures are fine, what Windows 10 build you have?
Jul 11, 2015 The Insider Preview Build 1066, the newest one.. actually, I've noticed it doing it since when I first upgraded, but a lot more on the last few builds. As soon as I start up my PC, the core temp goes up to 70-80C.. which is too hot, then it gets up to 90-95C
Jul 11, 2015 Okay, i'm still in 10162 What program do you use to check your temperatures? I assume you don't have a laptop?
Jul 11, 2015 Naw, it's a desktop.. I was thinking maybe my computer can't handle Windows 10, the computer is 5 years old, so it should.. I guess. I use Core Temp to check the temperature.
Jul 11, 2015 Try another program like HWMonitor or Speccy to check the temperature just to make sure. It should handle Windows 10, it is lighter than 7 i think
Jul 11, 2015 I happened to look at my power options, and it was on maximum performance.. I was like wtf, so I put it back on Balanced..and it's not as hot as before.
Jul 11, 2015 I definitely won't upgrade for a while after it comes out until I know it's stable They're pricing as free for a reason
Jul 11, 2015 I have the latest build of it and its filled with simple bugs that should have been fixed in the early alpha builds..
Aug 15, 2015 The same is happening to my ASUS G56JK which is specially for gamers, and I never use it for that, simple Word, Excel and internet surfing. Before I upgraded to Windows 10 never was too hot, now I cannot stand the computer making noise, hot as h---, just after five minutes of work. What can I do? My advice, do not upgrade it until they can fix this problem.
