Sep 17, 2015 The physician who performed cosmetic surgery on Kanye West’s mother the day before she died says he is not responsible for her death. Dr. Jan Adams spoke exclusively to INSIDE EDITION about how he believes he was set up "as the fall guy" after 58-year-old Donda West passed away in November 2007. Despite telling Donda to stay in a medical facility, Dr. Adams said she insisted that her nephew, a nurse, would take care of her at home instead. This was a mistake, he said. Reading out notes he made in the days after Donda's death, Dr. Adams said that her caregivers gave her "20 vicodin tabs in less than 20 hours." He said he believes that contributed to Donda choking. He added that her nephew - Kanye's cousin - Stephan Scoggins was not there at the time. "What’s Donda West’s problem? Her nurse wasn’t there," Dr. Adams said. "Her nurse was gone to a baby shower rather than taking care of his aunt." He said she was left lying on her back and she choked to death. "This lady shouldn’t be dead," he added. "All he had to do was sit her up." Following her death, his practice went out of business – but he says he did nothing wrong. He said the lengthy liposuction, tummy-tuck and breast-reduction surgery went ahead without any issues. The coroner did not blame Dr. Adams in its report - and instead alerted the nurses' board to Scoggins. Scoggins has denied Adams' allegations that he is responsible for Donda's death, and the nurses’ board dismissed the case against him. But Dr. Adams is pleading with Kanye West to speak out about "what he knows." "The doctor had nothing to do with his mom's death," he said. "The truth when you bury it just grows bigger."
