The U.S. State Department has issued rare a worldwide travel alert due to ongoing terrorist threats from the Islamic State of Iraq and Great Syria (ISIS) and other groups.

The travel alert urges caution for any Americans traveling abroad, coming in the wake of a terrorist attack in Paris on Nov. 13 that killed 129 people.

The alert, posted Monday, says, “Current information suggests that ISIL (aka Da’esh) [ISIS], al-Qa’ida, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions… Authorities believe the likelihood of terror attacks will continue as members of ISIL/Da’esh return from Syria and Iraq. Additionally, there is a continuing threat from unaffiliated persons planning attacks inspired by major terrorist organizations but conducted on an individual basis. Extremists have targeted large sporting events, theatres, open markets, and aviation services.”

The alert will remain in place until February 2016, the State Department said.

More chance of getting killed by a car in any major European city than you do of getting caught up in a terrorist attack there. Yeah Paris was massive news so we're thinking about it a lot (and I guess the govt. has to issue a travel alert so they don't look s--- when the inevitable next attack happens and a US citizen is a casualty) buuut if this is preventing you from going about your day as usual (or travelling to somewhere like Europe) you're a moron.

Well last time I flew on a plane, it was inter state and i f---ing woke up half way through to smell what i assume is f---ing petrol/jet fuel or some s---. fucken stinks up the whole cabin and I'm sitting there like "ok, plane is leaking, we're f-----, im gonna die. gr8. best case scenario we land in the ocean and hopefully get rescued. But f--- s--- IS LEAKING IM GONNA DIE"
it was just constant thoughts of that for the next 30 minutes till I hear God himself come over the speakers and say "we'll be landing shortly"

so yeah regardless of these warnings, f--- planes i'm done with them for about another year or two.

I've always told myself that I'd survive a plane crash by opening the emergency door when it's low enough to jump out of and rolling on the ground while the plane crashes and explodes a bit further ahead
