I think Game had a huge impact as well tbh.

He broke out when no notable superstars were coming up from the coast, and his relevancy is strong today. Now he's passing the torch to guys like Kendrick, Black Hippy, Anderson .paak, and YG.

Word I have a smaller scope because I started listening to rap around 1996, and I really started listening after Dre dropped 2001.

So Game is huge for me, even though I'm not a fan of his music anymore.

Obviously 2Pac along with Snoop. Their names became synonymous with West coast rap, and their influence is still pretty strong, especially Pac's.

game has never had any impact on california rap. people f----- with him when he came out, but he didn't really cause any shifts or spawn any disciples.

g-funk is probably the biggest influence overall, with dre, cube, and eazy having massive impacts on the coast. but beyond that, you basically have to put l.a. and the bay in two distinct categories.

down here, you have to start with ice-t, then move to guys like quik and pac and then bone thugs--for all intents and purposes, they were an l.a. group. on a sub-commercial level (although major stars stopped by both weeklys), the good life cafe and project blowed are the most significant landmarks. freestyle fellowship, acey's solo career, busdriver, etc. in this century, yg has been the most influential, followed by nipsey hussle and kendrick.

in the bay, pre-hyphy, you have to give it to e-40 and spice-1. then mac dre, of course, and guys like keak.
