Feb 3, 2016 So I've been only using a limiter and a tape saturator but I feel like there could be more done to make it sound better. So I'm wondering, how do I apply compression in a mastering sense. I know how to apply it in a mixing sense but not a mastering sense, any tips, tools, techniques? Help would be greatly appreciated.
Feb 3, 2016 I'm f---ing awful with mastering, I just know I try and keep everything from sounding s-----y/distorted when it plays back so I watch for things clipping, and I keep Maximus on my master track and adjust it as I produce and mix (but try and not over compress things with it) Someone like @Creation could probably give you some real advice on the subject
Feb 3, 2016 Do you want to pm me the song & Ill give you a few tips on what i believe needs to be done?
Feb 3, 2016 @Creation I'm talking about all my songs in general... I used to use -1.0db on the limiter, now I leave it at -0.0db; I use Kramer Tape in order to give the peaks variety; you can find all my songs on my soundcloud but yeah, I'll PM you a song to see what tips and what you believe can be done.
Feb 4, 2016 It depends on the personality of the mix you are aiming for. Like if you want everything to be tight in the mix use glue compression
