So I was driving around on my lunch break a few hours ago and heard a clip of Jeff Van Gundy on the radio talking about Howard and he said he's a definite hall of famer. Freddy Coleman (host of the show) basically laughed at this and said he doesn't think he's a hall of famer.

I tend to agree with Freddy for now although I'd have to look back and see what other big men are in the hall to compare. Also Dwight's career obviously isn't over yet and my answer would change if he wins a ring, however I don't really expect him to.

So what do you think, will Dwight make the hall based off his career so far? If not do you think something will change and he will end up winning a ring or so and maybe getting in then?

He'll make it. He's a multi-winning DPOY. He's not first ballot HOF though.

He has had an underwhelming past 4 seasons, but it's an interesting one. I reckon he'll make it.

I definitely don't see him as a HOF, but who knows these days.

What lures certain players into the HOF is the idea that "Oh, we don't have a big, we need a big!" but, I don't see it with Howard.

Is he a good player? Sure. I just don't see him as an absolutely dominating presence.

Then again, his defense could land him there, so maybe I'm underrating that aspect of his game. Rodman was a rebounder, but he was also so dominant at it.

I just keep thinking about Shaq, Kareem, Mourning, Hakeem, Dikembe, Parrish, Robinson, Ewing.... I don't see Dwight on their levels, he's like a notch below, to me.

Or even PF's... McKale, Moses Malone, Barkley, Malone, and eventually KG and Duncan.

IDK... I don't see it, but I'm not doubting it.

That and Rodman make me believe he'll get in, although I don't believe he should.

The lack of Championships may factor in for him but his resume speaks for itself.

I mean, Howard is a prolific rebounder and shot blocker, but IDK.

I think Rodman got in because he was a 5 time NBA Champion, and had a big role on those Piston/Bulls teams.

Dikembe is Dwight's arguing point. If Dikembe made it, I guess Dwight should too. I feel like they have pretty similar careers.

Howard's defense isn't as good as Dikembe's and of course Rodman's gonna be in there cuz he was on those legendary Bulls teams.

Howard's defense is not really that special anymore, he hasn't even made any of the 3 all defensive NBA teams since 2011-12. He also has a poor attitude and issues with coaches/teammates as well.

The way things are now I don't think he'll make it although it's close, he's not heading in the right direction imo either. Gotta see how the rest of his career goes though to be sure of course.

IDK, he has similar stats to Dikembe's first 12 years, has him beat in a few categories.

I think they have fairly similar careers, to be honest.

I don't think either should be in the HOF :jordan:

He averages 18-12 and is a mulitple DPOY, yes he's a HOF. A drama queen and cry baby, but his numbers speak for themselves. Definitely not 1st ballot but he will get in eventually.
