& I'm not talking about the s-----y re-makes they released that play old NES/SNES/Sega games.

    Something NEW.
check out these excerpts from some recent articles released after the prototype was revealed at the NY Toy Show 2 weeks ago..

Coleco's Chameleon console promises a true old-school gaming experience. That means its games will look and feel like the titles you might have played decades ago, and they absolutely won't release wallet-thinning DLCs. They're not computers in a console's body like modern models. Its developer, Retro Video Game Systems, Inc., plans to release new games (in cartridge form, of course) by indie developers and SNES titles ported for the system. But before that happens it still has to raise funds via Kickstarter, beginning on February 26th, 2016.

The upcoming crowdfunding campaign won't be this console's first rodeo. As Gizmodo Toyland notes, the company tried to raise funds for the console last year via Indiegogo, when it was still simply called Retro VGS. It had an ambitious funding goal -- $1,950,000 -- but only raised a bit over $80,000. It's called Coleco Chameleon now, as the company signed a deal with the old gaming company. Coleco used to make handhelds and mini-arcades for Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, among other games, back in 80's.

According to the developer's Facebook page, you can get a Chameleon if you pledge at least $135. It'll come with a controller and some cables, including HDMI and A/V jacks, since it works with a wide range of displays. The best thing about it, though, is that you won't need to download a Day One patch and can start playing as soon as you get it... assuming it makes its way to backers this time around.

Some more information from a different article:
The Coleco Chameleon from Retro Video Game Systems won't land on Kickstarter until the end of the month. However, it did hit Toy Fair earlier this week to give the public a little taste of its retro-gaming goodness and score a few deals. And score it did, landing the rights to the Atari 2600 library. That's over 300 games, as well an option for the company to develop new games based on all that classic IP.

In addition to the Atari games the company's already gotten ColecoVision,Intellivision and even SNES games running on the hardware. The Chameleon is also promising unreleased '90s Genesis games like Battle Brave Saga and Water Margin, as well as more recent 16-bit titles like adventure platformer Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death.

Due to some great success at the Toy Show in NY, they pushed back the launch date of the Kickstart to make the product even better, but they said it will not affect the launch date.

Check out their Facebook page for some more information and some pictures/videos of the system. (And also their booth at the NY Toy Fair)

As an avid gamer, and collector - I'm still unsure about this. A lot of bloggers and podcasters are saying this is a fraud. Saying its just an SNES in an Atari Jaguar body and go on to say that the company is basically just trying to make a penny off nostalgia.
I'm excited to see if their Kickstart fails again this time around...

    THOUGHTS???!?!??!?!?!

their "prototype" they showed off for this was literally an SNES electrical taped inside of an atari jaguar shell lol

and it wont get any games. the cost of producing cartridges doesnt make any sense especially to indie devs

also i get the idea of no dlc being a perk but to boast that there'll be no pre release patches is pretty stupid lol games were just as buggy back then as they are now, except now you can potentially get a fix
