Jun 21, 2016 Free time and dedication, especially the former. Once you get everything set up its pretty much just experimenting and even messing around until you get used to being behind the boards. Learn how to use the volume frequencies to your advantage and see how the highs and lows will help you find the perfect sound for your sets. Granted you can either be a simple playlist Dj that just lets the music slide without interference or you can learn your trade at cross-fading tracks, beatmatching and more techniques that might take your set to a new level if you pull it off right. Both types work well and it more or less depends on your environment; most of the time people just want the music to be the background noise at parties/bars and so & so. Sometimes you might want to put your pride to the side as far as music you like but it's worth taking some risks in your playlist if you want to have a go at it haha. A bit of a lengthy post but I hope I may have provided some insight and advice. Most importantly have fun with it, I loved doing it and if I wasn't so lazy I should have kept on doing it. Best of luck m8!
